18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.If God is not your refuge, your support, or who holds your life together, one may find clamity, misfortune as in Isaiah chapter 3 warning given with the loss of Jerusalem and Judah to come. David attributes of faith perhaps was not to his own glory, but a glorification to his God who had been his refuge, his rock and stay.
The abundance in Israel both spiritual and physical food, might not of brought Israel to their knees until time of Babylon, and then the Assyrian take over.
Been watching the election and several things to note at the time of Former President Trump's money handouts when did the need for help arise across America. The economy was crumbling. Yet where did it start a year before Cov. It all depends who you ask. There economic issued all the way back to the Great Depression. Though our nation is rich and many Americans rely on the wealth of our nation that came from the breaking backs of working Americans, our nation like many nations have struggled with economics, war involvement and more. If you want the economy to improve, there in truth one needs to trust in God. There is over 5 billion little nations whose individual economy as a whole effects our whole economics. Some 5 billion will be self supporting all the days of their life and another percentage is self supporting until they are required to rely on retirement insurance they paid into. Then there percentage that requires partial or full support of government assistance along with 6 other continents plus Islands our nation aids. Five billion nations individual people living in the good old USA.
Now David issue in Psalms had to do with one his anointing as king, and Saul's attitude toward him because Saul felt he was an enemy caused mainly because of jealousy of David's relationship with God and Saul being vexed with unclean spirit. Saul chased David into a cave to hid and God chased Saul with a storm into that same cave. There David found himself hiden and protected by God. Did David worry about anything if God was his stay/supporter. One day David would Govern the wealth of the nation, yet being castout of the palace he had no fear of what he would eat and drink.
The prophesy of Isaiah was to encourage people to rely not on Jerusalem or Judea for finances but to allow God to be your stay.
He knew what was to be protected by God from boyhood. Israel knew in her infancy what was for God to be their support just for water and food. We as a nation during a pandemic got a good taste of what disaster may feel like. Did you rely on Government, or own since of how to survive or God. I be truthful when that pay checks stops how will you survive. At some point money could be of no value and trading a small option. What the value of things owned.
We watch but do we grasp the full situation. Those that live below what it takes to live in the USA either trust God or they become thieves, drug dealers, do odd jobs, beg, or learn to live without. And those that trust God know he is their stay. Jesus supplies their spiritual food by his Spirit and physical needs by his out stretch hand in times of supply. It maybe as simply gathering it or care of friends or neighbors that care about a person will being. Cost of supply before the cave unknown at the time was the death of the Priest who supply shew bread.
Dear Heavenly Father your supply sometimes comes with a cost. Yet your supply never runs out, it just may not be has we desire. Lord you promised on our day of salvation you would supply all our needs according to your purpose. There is a condition we must follow and obey you.
