Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Lamentations 3:1-26 KJV
1 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:
19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Waking up from a brief nap before writing and began to read this chapter in Lamentations. This is what comes to my thought and to my mind the older my body seems to desire to fall apart. I am over fifty by a few years. From the time we are born our body not only ready to ripens but it sets itself to one day fall to decay. Adam was in heaven with no decaying body.Yet his body was made of decay. His body made from dust. The light God gives being in the garden of Eden and not the only choice given. The darkness comes as man and woman sins and also he seeks the darkness to hide him and Eve behind. God kicks Adam out of Eden into the darkness of the world in need of God. Placed in a world with a body that will decay, because of his slin. The soul of man left deciding on darkness or light. Your choice where you spend your eternity. Humanity face the hardship of this world caused by our choices. We choose God's way or we allow the ways of the world to destroy us because of sin.

Then the author says in in God's mercy we are not consumed and great is God's faithfulness. when did the author go from despair to hope. This not the full chapter of Lamentations. God puts us in a spiritual darlness because of our choice but he ready to remove us into light of his word as we ripen to the understanding of it. His faithfulness comes because he honor our choice as we obey and follow his word. We look to Jesus because he told us too. Our bodies still decay. I heard people say they never had any real problems and the tributed it to their faith in God.

What about people of faith who is faced with problems of health and so forth. Once a medical guy I meet when in the hospital, no clue if he survived Cov19 or if I will meet him again. Did not even know his name. What causes disease sometimes chemicals, sometimes changes in environment, food we eat, and sin(not always our sin but sin of another). Someone in the family can bring a communitable disease home by sharing drinks and food. Most diseases are treatable but some stds are not. Jim and tonya got std who brought it home was it because of contact or sin with a person who had it? Adam ate fruit his wife brought and the results was future death. Back to original question do Christians get sick. We can get sick but God is our healer. There Christians rhat claim no sickness for 80 years and then their body seems truly marked for fast acting decay.

Our choice to sin will either cause our corrections or our eternal soul will remain in physical torment for eternity. The suffering in the darkness is not our eternal soul state for eternity if we believe, obey and trust in God. The body aches and other problems will be destroyed. We will one day only live in the light of his word and Spirit in eternal home. God is faithful and he given us a taste of what being in his presence is all about as believers as we obey and trust on Christ and His Spirit

Dear Heavenly Father we live in darken world but your light lights are path and teaches us to the direction to go for great is your faithfullness. In Jesus name, Amen.
