Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Daniel 6:1-22 KJV
1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
15 Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
18 Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

Daniel's imposition came with the law of the Medes of Persia. Is the law an imposition if it requires one to break the law to honor God in reverence through a simple prayer? What is worse the law if broken would cause one to be thrown into the lions den.

Daniel is not only in an imposition but Daniel day went from prayer and work to roughly 18 hour time delay considering the king would fast and pray desiring to hope to release Daniel if he was still some how alive.

King wait through the night and early morning he came running to the lions den to see if Daniel lived. He waited through the night. He did not try and rescue him til morning but it was early morning he ran to the den. The king believed Daniel would deliver him. He went to see because he could nothing about the situation because of the law he foolishly signed that had to be obeyed or the king would look weak not inforcing a new law.

King had power to remove Daniel but Daniel's imposition brought him to no doubt a night of unrest. Daniel being believer, his well being was resting in the hands of men that sought his life before the king. For Daniel was preferred over the princes and president of the land. He become a friend to the king. These same princes and president set a trap of potential harm and death by convincing the king, he need to sign this law concerning the prevention of prayer. Daniel believed it was better to obey God, so he prayed on the twelveth hour of his room with the windows open in the sight of the devils that convince the king to sign a foolish law/decree.

Devil could not harm Daniel but he could cause Daniel to be in imposition to cause delay in his life. He could threaten him and put him near death but could not kill him because God had purpose for his life ay 5his time.

There are plenty of men and women that have been maryter for faith. When God was demonstrate was his power, he does the impossible when protecting those he going to use to show his power through. Daniel day changed as he went to pray His day was put in an imposition to show God's authority to bring glory and honor to himself. Those that sought Daniel's life became breakfast for those lions, who had angels that shut their mouth's the night before.

Our imposition, our incovinces being used for God's glory and honor to show his authority over the ways and laws of man. God used His power to allow the king to invoke justice on those that had no faith in him. God used his power to build up the king's faith. Do you remember reading the king fasted during the time Daniel was in the lions den. Why did the king fast for he could remove Daniel at anytime, to allow God to demonstrate his power to those that sought Daniel and other believer's life.

How are you reacting now as the devil tries to make you slip and fall. How are you reacting to situation you find yourself in because of the law. Are you standing your ground for Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father remind us that in our faithfulness to you the devil imposition can be used for your glory and honor to demonstrate your power over the laws of man. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Timothy 2:1-6 KJV
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
