Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 20:20-28 KJV
20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Two accounts of this story. The mother not mention in the second account found in Mark 10:35. I want to make note of a mother wanting best for her two men, her sons. She really did not understand the full sorrow Mary would go through as Mary mother of Jesus seen her son hung on the cross or the joy of the resurrection.

When desiring salvation and indwelling of the Holy Spirit do you realize fully know what you ask. After fully being awake to what scripture offers was it hard to pray for that same baptism on another. When I younger I little knowledge of the world only knowledge of the Savior. Not the knowledge of trials of this world. Yet Christ has called all to ministry bearing our cross for him. He called us to not be alone but anointed/filled with the Holy Spirit in world that does not grasp the full salvation story or his baptism of faith by walking by his Spirit. It is a wonderful walk but it is the painful trials of faith and sorrow one goes through makes it not an easy walk and without the Lord to bear it no one could walk it. It is true the burden is light. Our task is to love, but the road to the top is hard to climb. The mountain is not always a glorious view because of overcast clouds one walks through but you know God's Spirit surrounds you on that mountain and wont let you go as your prepares for the next valley.

What keeps other praying for the baptizism of others is the knowledge of not being a disciple of Christ for eternity is a far worse outcome of a road of torment for eternity. James and John's Mother had no right too ask for high position in the heavenly kingdom for her sons. Most believers are going to be excited too realize the reward of faith not just in heaven but on earth too. With that knowledge it makes prayer easier. We know no say in another person walk with God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit) beyond prayer. We might be aid to another struggling or just a prayer warrior for them. He meaning Christ is a servant in this passage and not necessarily Lord. Was this a moment of his teaching of taking the servant road to the Father. Yes because to hand out a position would give other men to think they had that authority too and they do not. Some authority is only reserved for God and not man.

When you pray for the baptism in another life pray for the baptism of the word and Holy Spirit. Pray for it in your own life after you receive Christ as Lord. Let God exfoliate you and he will provide the Spiritual baptism and strength for what you need for the journey.

Dear Heavenly Father we ask you baptize each believer and that you will exfoliate their life to glorify You and your word. Those that know not you, we ask you baptize them with your word and the blood of Jesus filling them with your Spirit, In Jesus precious name, Amen

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 10:35-45 KJV
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
