Witness From The Begining 4/18/2024
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 John 1:1-10 KJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Maybe the hardest thing to grasp and grab hold of is faith for a nonbeliever. What if a none believer grabs hold of faith because of the fruit of God's Spirit demonstrated in other's life. John the author of John, 1-3 John, and Revelation bore witness not only having seen Jesus with his on eyes but felt him. Maybe hand shake, holding his hands examing the nail scars, and maybe a brotherly embrace at times. He knew Jesus was real and the God he worship was a real being. In this passage he writes as Jesus not has a God but as the burden covering by his blood. Here good example of Jesus being our atonement for sin. When you get to I John 3:16 and see God's love becauses laid his life for us. That way we should be willing to die for our brethren. Makes one think of the three Musketeers or the Knights of the round table with Christ being Lord. Chivalry of brotherhood and even sisterhood. Following Christ example even unto even if our perfection is only because Christ blood covering for sin.
We can think we ourselves is sinless though Jesus truly was before his Heavenly Father's eyes. A tale of obeying God even to sweeping the temple porch clean. We see Christ as a servant to even his Heavenly Father though they be united as one.
From the begining John knew he was the Messiah because of the baptism plus John was a cousin of Jesus by human birth. The story of virgin birth would circulate through the family. John was son of Zebedee and his mother is thought to be sister of Mary. However kin ties are unimportant for he became a follower of Jesus and a believer himself of who he himself made declaration about. He share his walk and main teaching by letter to the church and declares us all sinners and anyone believing he has not sin makes Jesus and God a liar.
Jesus is declared the Word of life and in Chapter 4 of I John, John declares Jesus came in the flesh. In chapter 1 he declares Jesus is light and him there is no darkness. Darkness representing sin.
Our faith built on belief and Jesus only denies a personal relationship with God. We can believe all the facts of testimony of Jesus but until we pray and learn to put our trust in Jesus ourselves we are denying that personal relationship with Jesus. It easy to read scripture but do we take it to heart. Do we apply to our life.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the testimony about who Jesus is and his message of love from God above. May your word breathe breathe hope and life to believers. Help each believe to examine themselves how the view sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: 1 John 3:16 KJV
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
