19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.
20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
21 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
35 And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
The pit a new thing in the earth. The concept of hell being below or the bottomless being underground scripturally speaking might come from this passage in Numbers. Hell being the place that separates man from God. It has a beginning. Many people did not worahip God in other countries why were they not equally immediately consumed? Why is this important of being a new thing. Cain was marked by God and left to roam outside the sight of God.(Genesis 4). God in Numbers was separating false leaders not chosen by God and casting out their angels/congegation they followed them instead of God choice and they died deep inside the earth as the ground literally swallowed them whole. Now if you do not live in coal fields, salt or silver minds the concept of a hole coming from no where may seem foreign to you. It also happens in other areas including sandy regions. It is an odd story to hear on the news of it happening. But occassionally there is event that whole homes are swallowed with no evidence left behind.
Moses prayed for a new thing to occur to prove God had chosen him and his brother Aaron to lead the people. It better to work with leadership then to fight against them. You gain not only trustworthiness and loyalty but you are not disloyal to who God may of chosen for the position. The political rivalry in our nation does one thing after the vote we are to come back as a nation to unitify under the leader to come. What beautiful about our laws we come to terms to try and iron our differences that divide our nation to try and protect our human rights of human dignity.
In Moses case the two that stood up against Moses understood not the sacredness of being chosen by God, they felt anyone could do it stirred up trouble and rebellion in the camp. Is that not what the devil did in the garden divide God's word to make Eve to believe the serpent that beguiled/ deceived her. It got them not cast of God's sight only his home. Do not try and take God's position among his people or you will be consumed or cast out. In Revelations 20 we see this same princepal played out. Hell being a place of false teachers as well as the devil. The pit God place every false prophet in is because they followed the Satan and not God and his word.
Principal of who lands in the eternal lake of fire never changes and the reason is choice both of Satan, his angels and human beings had to do with who they follow or who they tried to become in power. God will remove those not by hand of man but the by the hand of God.
The separation of those outside the believers camp not consumed until death comes with the knowledge the enemy arises and falls by the free choices of man. As believer we have only one recourse to follow Jesus in the direction his Father is taken his people. Can God's people work with false leaders inly for a time to share tge truth who God is. Reason Moses rose up in Egypt. God's hand was upon him.
Dear Heavenly Father Let us focus on reality that you established who is in charged of your people. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 20:1-15 KJV
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
