The Worship Of God 9/05/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisGenesis 8:20-22 KJV
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
One of the first but I made it also my last curriculum study out of Genesis is praise and worshipping of God(Lord Jehovah). Worship of our creator beginning with the knowledge of God's supplies with Adam and Eve coming together as man and wife the offspring of hope to come. The joy and elation of God's promise of children. Children being a blessing. Eve would bear more children then Cain and Abel. She have a son name Seth that would call on the name of the Lord. First known sacrifice pleased God came from Abel.
Noah step out of the ark did not sacrifice just one animal but many on the altar made to make sacrifice to God. This one huge sacrifice pleased God and he made new covenant with Noah and his sons not destroy the whole earth with flood again. Sign being a rainbow.
Abraham, Isaac and Joseph were men that would make different sacrifices, including Abraham sacrifice of his children, Javob would pour a drink offering out on the rock at Bethel and Isaac would be seen quietly meditating in his field as he wait on the servant to return with his future bride. There was a contract with God and Abraham as God flame walked between the laid out meat. The land contract given to Abraham by God. Abraham also had a meal prepared for God and two angels, before God spoke about Abraham having child and this event happen twice. The second time in the hearing of his wife who was behind the tent wall.
Relationship with God and man being crucial in man's worship and communion with God. The first commands in Exodus 20 as to do with the revence of God, worship and honoring God.
If one tries to say because Genesis is a different time then Exodus that God's laws did not apply think again. Genesis was a time man was learning about God and God's laws. The reason we are to obey. Reason to have faith because of hope promise will come to pass. Prophecy coming of Messiah coming from Isaac as he blessed Judah his son was also a promise from God. The sceptra would come that would not be removed until Shiloh(Messiah) comes.
Dear Heavenly Father remind us to worship and honor you if nothing more as Isaac did in meditation on the open field. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 4:1 KJV
