Psalms 10/16/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPsalm 1:1-6 KJV
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Who was Psalms writen for? The Psalms are record first as praise and prayers to God but it also for the man saved by grace or righteous through faith. Meaning the heathen might find hope and comfort of the Lord to change to faith there, but it tells the warnings to the heathens of God's destruction that is coming. For the righteous man he not only finds hope in faith but knowledge his struggle against the enemy is not his alone to bear. Nor his sin without forgivenesses or his body and soul without God's healing. He learns that the Shepherd of his soul cares for him despite his trangression he finds forgiveness for his tresspassess. He finds hope and strength for the day. He/she learns to praise his/her God and Savior. One more thing it tells the believer it okay to be angry and question God but the need to put God's power in the place it belongs as being mightier then the enemy. Bringing assurance of a better tomorrow. If I was to sum up all 150 Psalms the above would be my rendition of the book of Psalms.
For Psalms 1 we begin with it speaking about the righteous man and ending with total destruction of evil doers. That the righteous man delights in the law of man. He is like a tree planted by the water. We are strength like the tree that is planted not on edge but near where the roots get plenty of nourishment and the deep roots are not exposed by the bank on the water edge. To close and the tree falls and rots on the water edge. We to draw near to God but our foundation must be planted in His word the solid rock of faith that is Jesus. The heathen are not planted but drink of the water and grow but they have no roots and one day like the flood water of Noah time will cover and drown or burn them up with drought of the water edge because the roots have nowhere to go once exposed. Not just a branch that floats down stream to become water logged roots come with it, never to grow again but decay and rot deep under water or burn up in the sunlight of the day.
If one tries to draw to close to God without his Son/Word for protection he face blind truth about God and his holiness. The heathen try to use there works as a bargain chip. Man can not reach our living God by their deeds. There works are dead because no light of God to shine in them.
Dear Heavenly Father you know your people and your laws are writen and sealed on their heart. May your word always strengthen and comfort the believer. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Romans 7:22-25 KJV
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
