1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)
2 That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,There is often three sides to every story. The devil's, your's and God's. Stop right there do I really need to go futher. We want to declare good and not evil. King Ahasuerus reigned India and Ethiopia. Bible speaks stories of the Jews, their neighbors and lives and areas in which other neighbors controlled. King Agasuerus reigned over 127 providences. As people spread regions in where people live grew. Beginning point where Noah ark landed and the direction each male heir of Noah went to. Some families went by ship and others over dry land but areas and regions spread.
Now Jews were settled in this region because of the captivity of Babylon. Here they would face potential annihilation under King Ahasuerus authority dictated by the man Haman, who sat above all the princes. Mordecai a jew refused to bow to Haman, who did know not know the man was Jewish or the uncle of the Queen Esther who also was Jewish. Mordecai found out about the annihilation of the Jews would start on a certain date, the people began to fast and pray and God saved the people through Queen Esther position. Wirh prayer and fasting the work God did in lives of his people would only strengthen them to follow God in faith.
The devil being defeated and hung on his own gallows he made. Do not assume you are in control. God going to defeat those who want to destroy his people.
Recorded was kept about event among the Kings Media/Medes and Persia. This short version of the story does not explain the whole situatuon of the people so read all 10 chapters in your Bible for more understanding. The book is the second book and only other book about details of woman's life.
What the point the Bible is not only about God's people or culture but God's people living in exile looking up to him, under a different authority and land.

1 And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.
2 And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?
