Women In Charge 5/12/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisProverbs 31:1-31 KJV
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
The woman's passage. The standard of a woman, her place in society by religious order. The rule of thumb so to speak but not always the norm. In truth should woman's place be in the home, as some areas would say barefoot and pregnant. What about woman's working should they work outside the home? If we look at society at when scripture was writen, does it work for the working woman of today. If so the idea of woman caring for her human has changed from both sexes caring for the home and homely chores so they can go out and work in society. If you live a farm filled life the idea of woman's work and man work often over lap. However you get into the city society and both sexes are working and not living off the land, it far different. Woman sometimes make more then a man depending on his skill levels. Women use to say marry a rich man and you will not lack for anything, but society is different, because it is now whoever can make the most dough go for it, be the leader financially for the finances of the family and if you can achieve, and can prosper do so. If you are the other person that not working in striving financially your responsibility widen to doing and caring for the home and making sure the things in the home are running smoothly efficiently to the best of your ability and financial means. The target being to come together as equal and providers in different aspects of the family unit, as spouses first and parents second, which the second taking the lead when responsible for little people life.
If the home could be describe only as Biblical perspective no doubt it would be. The woman place to care and tend to the things of her home, to sell her creation/wares in marketplace or business world. Now king Lemuel is said to be really King Solomon, and his mother instruction is not to allow any woman to have authority over him or really to rule for him in his power. Solomon loved woman so much he had 800 wives plus concumbines. Now why would his mother tell them this, he did not want Solomon to sell the kingdom to many of these woman or allowed them to control Solomon in general. If you stop and think if you are raising a king or politiican what would you teach man verse a woman. to see women in politics is not a crime, but it a hard fight to the top. Though women have made strives in leadership it will always be on going battle. Folks is this going against scripture, against a woman's place in society. God created woman to be a help mate to man Genesis 2. Yet is the woman being a help mate with a large salary or having political power wrong. Is she lording over her husband. Not in the least in one since. What I mean is there is a role in society that has nothing to do with your marriage. If a woman rises in the business world it is not wrong, it shows her skill in business and political society. However could it effect her home and her ability to care about the things in the home. The home care becoming more and more of a partnership to get things done then assignment to the sexes. First woman messed all womanhood up when she gave Adam the bad fruit that got them cast out of paradise. It was Adam's sin that took them out of paradise. Does God still assign the pecking order of position in the home? After all it been ten of thousand of years sin Adam and Eve, what the big deal right. Leadership is seen differently in the world then the church? Perhaps. Woman be the first caregiver of a child in the womb. Something man can not yet take that one role from woman, but if they could they might, until the first kick, that first round of heartburn, to gas, bloating, the carrying of human life within the womb, the back pain and changes in the body that not already described. Woman make sure men see the torture of labor for the sake of knowledge you are tough as nails. When you think on raising your child you teaching them to be the toughest they will and can be in their life they have chosen.
What is the point Woman's role has not changed because to teach young men to be tough to treat woman with respect they have to be sometimes be the servant, the nurturer for the man to take his position in the world in which we live. Yet raising a little girl to dream big and to be all she can be in her role and station in life is necessary as well. She will not be just homemaker, or seller in the marketplace? Not necessarily the only career of business world of selling in the business world the things made by others. Or the factory work, or the medical career and so forth. To nurture the young life in their interest that they are not only good at but will help make the world better. To have knowledge of the things in the home, even when someone else has to tend to those things. Men instructing much the same way their children by what they teach to prepare them for the big world out there.
No the roles are not changing, but man reponsibility in the home must be accomplished as well. Does it help to talk about gender roles in today's society. For some the traditional home is their desire. Both partner better know what roles they see each other in, because the bride and groom is never going to agree. The romance of the groom is not dead in our world, but the roles of the home have changed for both caregivers in the home. Nothing wrong with a man cooking, nothing wrong with him doing housework. Women there is nothing wrong with allowing them to lead either. Nothing wrong when they can not lead to take the lead role. Are you yoke together hopefully for a life time together. You need one lead horse, or oxen to lead the other to pull and go foward with the first step of the leader.
If we forget the roles of the woman of yesteryear, the roles in church may sound and be seen as male chauvinistic behavior. Deborah gave leadership to Barack(book of Judges). Yet Jezebel lead Ahab around because perhaps her own desire, and wants. Making Jezebel not only a bad and evil queen, but a terrible wife. The church is the body of believers, Christ is ahead of all believers. However not all men and woman can work with the opposite sex or lead with the opposite sex, because of sinful desire and lust of the flesh. One must be in full submission to Christ and not man to be a leader.
Without giving men the role in church, home or society they living a paradise dream of getting to do what they want when they want with no responsibility in their life. Women we do not want that, we want equally to help our men, to sometimes lead our men and sometimes to enjoy the chivalry of our mate. To know our position is clear in our home, our business, and the social world in which we live. Sometimes being the rebel in all positions to make it clear woman are just as intelligent as men. Women were created by God to carry the word of God(as Mary carried Jesus in the flesh) into the battle field of faith, Knowing woman carried the word in body by the will of God and man thinks they have a right to tell a woman not to preach, think again. Woman were the first to discover the empty tomb. God ordains both women and man to spread his word. God allows both men and women to rise in power. The woman also needs to know when not to take power from who God places in power as well as the man. Our need as Christians is to allow God to do the placing and giving of power to for the purpose of his glory and honor.
Dear Heavenly Father, as young women and men develop life skills, may they rely on you for guidance in the path other life should take. May God bless the graduates of 2023. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 139:1-13 KJV
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
