National Day Of Prayer 5/03/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPsalm 133:1-3 KJV
1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Today is the National Day of Prayer in America, where more then one religious group comes to Washington and remains elsewhere in small gathering to pray. If you not a Christian do you belong in that group? If you are Christian do you belong praying at the White House? We live in a time where faith is important to mankind, but what faith. Muslim are said to be on America soil down in Florida in 1500. I not Muslim. I did my research after President declared Muslims have been in our nation a long time since before our nation became independent from England. To think that our fore fathers of our nation felt it of value to draw all groups to pray, I have to ask you is this in line with Christianity? Not exactly. Yet it is not inline either. Biblically men began to pray at the time of Seth in Old Testament in groups. I sure then not everyone was in total agreement there either. As Christians we are not to take a backseat on prayer. We are to pray too. We are called to unity of faith, in one God, one Spirit. Yet for the believers in Christ we are praying with the heathen to one God. Traditions of man verse faith in Christ. For those that were raised believing Old Testament scripture you might not be believe in the New Covenant of Christ, but do you believe in God? Then I have to ask as Christian got comfortable with our sins are forgiven and washed in the blood of Jesus to the point we do not recognize our current state of sin. Our current to pray, to come together in unity of at least one God, despite whether others know Jesus. It our time to be a testimony of faith in Jesus to speak out about Christ to tell of his coming and who he was when he walked this earth. To draw those toward the water of endless life.
What does this mean? Many people will enter the church sit on pews and not be saved, yet they worship with us because they recognize one God despite not understanding who Jesus is. The world come to church, obeys the laws of the church until it comes to faith In Jesus, that why some will never join the church though they appear to be christians by their love and their actions, sometimes more so then the Christian. Sounds a little hyprocritical but in truth it is sad state of affairs in public worship. It is a turning point for many that finally after time get who Jesus is and accept him as Lord and Savior. Think on this were you a pew sitter before you got saved? Almost all of us were learning about the Bible. Our voices need to be heard. The love of Jesus needs to be told that he said on the cross he forgives us for we know not what we do. In truth most us seldom realize what we do.
Israel was a Jewish nation for many years though other people came through it, It was nationally a Jewish state much like the USA is said to be a Christian nation. The call to worship under one God both in Israel and even America. Yet One God term means more to a Christian because of God being Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God Elohim in scripture means more then one, yet no division between the God head like you see in Roman culture or other multi culture gods. Imporant to note one God means a perfect unity of the Godhead for the Christian believer. For the none Christian that monothesis one God is misclaimer not understanding what the Hebrew word Elohim(God) means.
Now with this in mind we must continue to ask several things, One faith, one baptism and one Spirit. One that teaches, about one's faith in God and one baptism, not immersion but in truth of who God is by his Spirit. The heart and spirit listening to God speak to their heart. Some will never be saved we witness too, while others will know Christ.
Unity of the Spirit of God in the Old Testament was displayed in the New Testament through the early believers as they spoke in tongues, as they prayed, as wonderful works of God happened. The anointing is said to be like the oil that Aaron head was anointed and ran through his beard. Compare to the dew on the mountain running down into valley. The anointing being freshness of God's Spirit. When we pray and are in gatherings of those who pray even if they know not Christ it opportunity for the balm of God's Spirit to speak to the heart of those lost. For the anointing to be so strong they fall back in the presents of the Holy Spirit and are slayed(fall backwards) right where they are. The anointing strong that even believers fall back at times. God's Spirit ministers to the heart. God speaks and his will is made known even to the lost that will hear and listen, drawing them to God and his Spirit. Testimony of the newly saved is heard in the congregation of the people. A revival breaking out.
Where is your unity this morning, those that can attend public meets go fasting and praying. And those that can not because of work and such, take time to pray today. Many religions are present at these functions, remember if God is for us and Christ be present by his Spirit the lost will be saved. Some will turn and not be saved, but others will hear and believe. Take time to pray for our nation, we need no more big storms. Tornado off of Virginia coast line the other day and went northward. Pray. Missippi and other states have been ripped through by storms in recent months. Pray. God wrath is kindle against us if we do not repent and seek God face to face. Let the unity of Christ spread in our nation as a fire spreads controlled by the Holy Spirit and not by man.
Dear Heavenly Father, draw your believers together in unity to testify of who you are by your anointing of Christ and the Holy Spirit in their life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 4:1-32 KJV
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
