Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 24:1-22 KJV
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

We recently went over a similiar chaper I believe it was Luke concerning time of destruction, desolation and persecution. Are we still in days of persecution. There is not a day go by that Christian world somewhere is attack by the enemy if they are serving God. You might be living pretty peaceful and never felt persecuted for faith, and I hope that is your story, but not everywhere is there peace and not everyone receives Christ when offered. We think of Christ bringing peace and yet their persecution and even strife in families. Families divided because of Christ. The end could not come until it been preached to all four corners of the earth, meaning all nations. Rome was not the final frontier, but I sure when time of peace came to Roman territories when Christ inflitrated the government that many thought this was surely the time of Christ coming, not knowing people had migrated all over the globe.

What can we spiritually learn about end times? What can we learn about the harshness that people are bigots of not only color, creeds, ethinicity, but also faith. If I am bigot to another man or woman's faith it because they do not believe in Christ. But bigot a harsh word for someone that will not bow to an idol, or another god. It more of saying I do not receive what they do as truth. If it makes me a bigot for that then so be it. However as a believer in Christ I have a responsibility to love even those I disagree with. When going through a trial of faith I have a responsibility to love as Christ loved me before my own day of salvation.

What can prepare you to take flight in a storm, take flight in war, flight in persecution, flight in times of devastation, and flight in times of destruction. Some things are forced upon you. A house fire, causes one to stand on the outside of the house and know the world you knew just changed without you deciding yet if you will survive the next journey in life. Being force from one's home and take flight no one prepared for the flight or the journey. I watch a lot of people buying campers and trailors online, some to remake and rebuild and design their own vehicle for their journey. Yet even so some without even the shoes that once were on their feet where there shoes no longer have soles. I think most of us are blessed to know the safety of home, vehicle, or family around us, or having people one can turn to in times of trouble. While others are alone in their struggle.

Sometimes i wonder what caused someone to be abandon or to abandon the confines of what seems safe to the wild world of the unknown. And though the size of their rig tells me, most likely they chose the life style, and the lack of clothing to a good backpack, or ride, tells me they had no choice but to go.

A tornado and hurricane cause people to have to abandon if they survive the structure that unsafe because of the storm. The earthquake, typhoon, Tsunami and more leave people wonder can one really survive the odds of major one. A wild fire out of control, and a flood running below the fire makes no sense at all. Both running from each other and only one caused by the other. The uncertainity of tomorrow can you really live without Jesus, without faith?

People buy home owners insurance, renter insurance, health insurance and even life insurance. Life insurance only benefactor is the ones you left behind, home insurance and property insurance only protects what you have until day of destruction or you move away, or no longer need what is insured. Jesus is eternal insurances needed after death, and during the walk of life to assure you travel the pathway of faith and hope.

Jesus is our eternal security when one receives him as Lord and Savior. Jesus walks people through storms in life that no one else seems to be able too. He brings calm to the storm. When you standing before a gullitine do you think you be calm, yet stories of people going to the cross of death, were found with incredible strength and faith to trust God in the heat of the trial of faith. Why was this? It is the work of the Holy Spirit in the believers life. It is the work of God when one's faith is on trial and we are still hanging on to the one we waiting to see for eternity.

Jesus was warning of the storms that he would not be on earth as he was with the disciples and the people of his day knew him to be. He was going home, but he was leaving a message of hope. A time of tribulation would come and wars would come, devastation would come, but if we would remain faithful we have eternal hope of eternal life with faith in Jesus. Our insurance would be faith in Jesus no matter whether at peace or tribulation.

Will you be prepared to leave or to take flight when the time comes, are you insured for eternity, are you insured for what you can be prepared for? Are you convinced you can handle whatever may come? Truth is no matter how will man prepares even for war, for storms, and more there is no insurance like Jesus that will take you through life, whether in times of celebration, joy and hardship. He carry you though all of life journey. If you need Christ today even if you enjoying life, ask him into your heart. Read the how to be saved section of the site by pushing the button How to be Saved at the button and top of the devotion.

Dear Heavenly Father, prepare our hearts first the insurance of eternity and the insurance that you will go with us and teach us by your word and Spirit. That Christ being invited in our hearts will open the door to him to lead and teach us through the journey of life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 11:32-40 KJV
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
