turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For March 17, 2023
The Gift
3/17/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 21:1-4 KJV
1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

The gift of the poor widow is one of the easiest to understand in our society even today. Let us look for at what our President Biden claims that the rich pay less tax then the poor. He talking percentage I hope it is not actual break down of what is out of pocket expense. Meaning when you pay the rich person the same amount of tax is withheld as the poor in regards to the amount taken on the dollar, but the number of loop hold a rich man has in comparison to a poor man is based on how money is used. In other words the more tax write off the more of his original money he keeps. Now a poor person has write offs too and often get money back in refunds. You get to the middle class and they may not take enough out of their check to make their regular bills, but they do not get enough tax right offs and often do not break even with the government. Why does the rich in government take care of the poor in truth it is because more money comes out from the rich to help those that give to the poor. If you take nothing as a poor person then you wealther for doing so. The poor can become a burden to society and their needs greater then the purse strings. It is a part of life in our world. Poverty index gets to great it shadows the wealthy because of their need to be overcomers and achievers much like them. To get that higher paying job and so forth.

I promise there is a point. Jesus always say there be poor among you when talking about anointing of his feet by Mary, but when you see a poor person give of all they have, it cause one to think again. What will two coins in our world in America buy. I don't think fifty cents will buy much today. Two silver dollars will they won't even buy eggs. The truth of the matter that is the society we living in. Yet those two coins of the widow woman was seen as a great gift to our Lord, because she gave out of her living, her needed money she earned for her own health and well being. The rich man might wear a suit once and give it away, but a poor man if he even owns a suit will hopefully take care of it. If not he seen perhaps has having no value in the suit himself except for his burying. It like a one time suit for a wedding, it be the same suit often for the burying of a poor man. It the jacket he borrows and does not return it. It the jacket that only value is for celebration or death. The rich wear their suits everyday and own many suits and ties. What he gives is never out of his living but out of his excess. Whether hand me downs or actual cash. Even if he tithes it still out of his excess, it does not effect his living. Taxes effect the poor and middle class but never effect the rich other then they see money they could invest instead of pay the country, state and local governments.

Church is not a local tax taker, but often they help you to hope for what they will get blessed with back. I doubt church world looks at it that way or would say it like that. However they know by helping others, they at least teaching or enable someone to continue in the right path often times. Is what we give out of our living, it should never be out of credit. Yet if it is then we trusting God to pay a debt he does not owe. God needs no credit cards, but God's people in society do often times meet their agenda or goals in life. Sometimes to help their living.

When you give to God, he often gives back if nothing but spiritual growth in ones life. That does not always produce income for living if you are needing cash. I just got a bill today, I knew was coming but I looked for it in a few more months and it showed up at my door today. I am now sitting and juggling how it will be paid as usual in my head and say why am i concern. It is a bill that does not fit in the budget but it has to. No don't need money. It not about me needing money. It often what we all do when it comes to paying our bills. We get the unexpect bill that we know will come and it is early. It does not mean it will not be paid, it means it puts a cramp in our style if we even have a style. It that chicken egg money you hope to wait for Christmas and it taken out with the spring chickens at Easter. That is life. Those on a tight budget know they can not handle one glitch in the system. Yet when it happens I guarantee it will be solved.

God is gracious even to us poor people. When Jesus sees the poor widow giving, he wants to bless with her story why because God is loves the sacrifice in the giving. He rewards the one that gives out of their living. Can you imagine a millionaire giving all he had after paying all his bills. He knows the next month his pay check is suppose to come and it will as long as he able to work. The following month it will look as if he rich again only to give what he does not need away. No most of us would say that man is a fool to do it that way. What the rich man does is he takes it and finds ways to make his money work for him and gives the interest of his earnings and not his savings to help people less fortunate. He miss nothing by giving out of his interest and he still feeds the poor. Yet what he does is not consider a sacrifice but ingenious because what he gains is the interest of his labor is what he loose not is money from his working. For a rich man he considers that a sacrifice and many agree by the ways of the world it is a sacrifice.

God gave the world one thing that he would not go back on outside his mercy and grace and that is his word, his Only Begotten Son in human flesh. The one thing man desire to sacrifice so they can do what they want. Not realizing the protection or saving grace of his word. That man sacrificing God's word is giving up not only eternal salvation but salvation upon the earth in which they walk for a life time. The saving knowledge of his protection in their human life. It does not mean death for eternity will not come to a believer, it means that God's warnings are real for the believer. God's word is true that sometimes you loose being good but it pays off either in the end or with someone that is watching that helps in a time of need or comes to faith in Christ because of your actions. The world watching the poor give their last coins in the church, giving of their last nickle in society to help another who hopefully will not forget them when they reach the top. It there investment to the world.

God's investment to the world is simple enough it is his word. It created the heavens and the earth, it created light and his hand formed many things both in heaven and on earth. We all have felt the twilight effect of the corna and cov19 virus. Yet we stand gazing out into society as it has evolved and changed before our eyes. Some never slowed down to notice, but when people loose jobs and can pay bills they notice. When people go back to work and the money they trying to use to straight out their mess and their living bills get higher they wonder what is wrong with this picture and did we jump through a time warp. Life changes rapidly and our security is not real but our security in God and his Son, his only word in the flesh is real. We need faith in God(Father, Son/word and Holy Spirit) to have eternal security and a map for the road of life. Are you giving out of your living, or you giving out of your wealth. Are you sacrificing for Jesus out of your living to aid the world in the knowledge of who Jesus is.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to give of ourselves to your reasonable service knowing that giving of ourselves to serve a living God is holy and is acceptible and the perfect will of God. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 12:1-2 KJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
