Ransom For Many

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 20:20-28 KJV
20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Mother of Zebedee's children(James and John) came to worship Jesus and ask for a certain thing from him. Are we angry at the request that Mother of Zebedee made to Jesus as the disciples of Jesus in his day were about James and John mother coming seeking a royal seat beside Jesus. There are times in scripture where we see Jesus in compliance to God the Father, but not in authority or in charge of the particular task persay. Is it easy to say it is my Father's decision by his word which is Jesus, and to take the servant role to the Father, then to claim his power and authority here in heaven. If three be one how can one make a decision without another.

A wife is called by her husband from work and says there be dinner guest tonight, I need to fix dinner and it needs to be something equisite. Something refined for dinner. Now the man is not the one that is overseeing the meal, but knows his wife can make a fine dinner as if it was a part of daily living, even down to candle light, and flowers on the table with the best china out and the bottle of wine. God the Father's role in decisions is different then Jesus earthly role on earth. Jesus was in fleshly state that had nothing to do with eternal authority at the time, other then to be an earthly house for God's Spirit, and only a representive for God the Father in the flesh to mankind. Means, when we invite Jesus into our fleshly home, God's Spirit never made us God, he communes with our spirit in the home of our very own soul. He fixed fine meal in our very own house for our soul to consume by our Spirit. Jesus at the present is not overseeing the heavenly realm or God's kingdom in heaven. God's word exist in heaven even without Jesus physical manifestation. We see the separation in one location in Revelation. if Christ be the word how can God's word and Christ word exist together and yet in two formats, Christ in heaven is the Spirit of prophesy on earth. It is if you drop a liquid drop of water outside the glass, it still water, but the glass has water in it as well. Water from the glass is still water from the glass. We are like the ice cube in the glass but we are water from another source but we are not the water in the glass. Jesus is the water in the glass. Authority to declare where the disciple would sit was not yet Jesus' call beyond what he had already declared. It the same as the Father's declaration of time for his Son to bring his children home. It sounds like the servant call and it is, but Jesus is Father, because he part of God that commands, and delivers God's word to the people by the Spirit.

I am going to drink from. What does that mean. Jesus was drinking the water of the will of God, could they drink from the water of the will of his Father. Jesus said they would drink of the will of the Father. No he said they would drink of his baptism. His baptism was the way of the cross, to submit to the will of God. One of Zebedee's children would be behead. There baptism in itself could save no one.

Saul was observe of the execution of Steven, but Steven did not save Paul, only caused him to wonder about this man perhaps. For when Saul a Jew who's name was Saul before it was changed, on the road to Damacus was stopped by a blinding light. Who spoke out of the light, but Jesus. Who convicted Paul, Jesus. A Bible teacher can teach God's word but can not baptize the soul to allow Christ in. The Spirit must speak to the heart the person to open the door of the heart to receive his word in. Only authority we have to hear God and obey or not too. Even Cain heards the word of God but he harden his heart to the words of God and killed Abel.

Lack of understanding as mother of James and John and even the two men lacked understanding what must happen in the sinner life to become a child of God, to have permission to reign with God sitting beside him on his throne. Our desire for the seat has to be undone for God says who will be sitting on the throne with him and his Son. Jesus is the ransom for many. Those that want to be chief, have them be a servant. Those that are least let them lead. May a child lead them. Jesus, was chief, but came as a humble servant serving in ministry. He came as healer, a prophet, a commander of the winds, saving the boat from sinking and the men from drowning.

Jesus is the only one that can be a ransom for many. Only one that can pay our sin debt, and forgive us our debit against God. He is the only one, because God is providing the sacrifice for sin. Man had taken sheep and bulls to the altar for their sin for years. Taken gifts to the altar for offerings to God. The only real sacrifice man can give is his life to live for Jesus. To give is live to live in the way God wants man to live in a life of faith, love, hope, longsuffering, kindness, gentleness, and more. To live a life of hard work, praising him all the day long. To live and share the hope of faith with all they come too.

Where is your faith, is it in Jesus today, will you let him pay the price for your sins, he is the sacrifice God provide for man? We can not pay our debt. Most of us are in debt to a bank, credit card or so forth, but if one pays on time, credits like to give more credit. Then a person can be overwhelmed with debt. So one goes and bankrupts and they loose nothing if they have nothing to loose. Some in bankrupts looses their house, their cars, and more. However when they are done the owe nothing back, their debt is forgiven. However it is a seven year on your record and you are consider not a safe person to give money too. For some reason creditors tend to still give loans to these people I hear. Banks are risk takers.

God is a risk taker when he forgives us our debt. He is a risk taker that says we will no longer sin against him. It does not mean we won't make mistakes, but we will not be indebted to God, why because the blood of Christ covers all our sin against God. The banks figure a person that bankrupt can not bankrupt again for seven years, So the risk is less that they will not pay back more then whatever they borrow on. Christ being the ransom for man, even if man sins again, it is covered by the blood of Jesus. That hard for some groups to understand that God's word declares we can no longer sin against him.

Dear Heavenly Father has we come to you let us claim your word, that your Son is a ransom for our sin. He came to pay our sin debt in full. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 4:3-8 KJV
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

1 Timothy 2:4-6 KJV
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

1 John 5:17-18 KJV
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
