Labor's Are Few 3/4/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 20:1-16 KJV
1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,
12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
I do not know a soul that would not be mad if told you, that you will get the same pay as the one that did not work as long. Stranger then fiction medicare works that way. If you work 65 years or 60 years you still getting the same pay as all the other retirees. I sure somewhere there is some exceptions to the rule. Is it enough to live on, not really not with the housing prices and grocery increases, the elderly are glad they bought a house and live in no apartment but they still have to contend with higher prices. What does this mean? Elderly that are poor are in crisis and the rich elderly will be loosing their wealth. However it does not mean they can not survive into the great old age of hundreds, it means, that their life style and body needs change. Means those that are old go out less, even if the beginning of retirement people seem to travel and do extra things, it eventually will slow down. For retirees, the idea of working 65 years and getting that first income check they paid into and receive now a check not even equal to their working paycheck, and realize that what they must live off of often go into a panic because it does not work with their current budget. Some had good paying jobs compared to the next. It puts everyone in the same boat as the next, but it prepares them for their own finale. Does it seem rights if someone paid in for 65 years is getting the same that someone worked only 20. Be glad that there is soup on the table and you lost your teeth and you can't chewy, so thank God for soup. It is better then institutional food and special diets because of doctors, that say you still can't eat that despite you are old.
We can joke about senior living, but reality, it is what it is, living on fix income unless you saved enough to enjoy your retirement years. All those things you wanted to do you might not get to do. Yet the availability of online searching for discounts and such you might luck up and get the deal of a life time for something you really wanted to do. It not like the old days and you hoped to hear of the deal to take that once in a life time vacation. Some vacations can even be earned as you go with french benefits. Yet you look around you will be surprised what kind of deal you can get for seniors over 65. However it will be hard work and it maybe volunteering to get what you want on a small severance pay. Yet those seniors healthy enough can get their dream. Yet do they have enough energy to enjoy it.
The deal of a life time is coming the way of all believers no matter the year you except Jesus as Lord and Savior your inheritance is the kingdom to come. Where are we going to the home in glory land that outshine the sun. It's light is God the Father and the Son. Who walk with mankind and the power of the Holy Spirit reigns through eternity. If social security pay does not prepare you for the hope of a better pay check nothing will. Those of faith have that hope of security in Jesus. That the word of God and the flesh of God spoke truth from begining to end into eternity hoped for. Everyone early retirement is at 62 and late retirement 70 or 75. What does that mean. It means you become like a teen and eventually like a baby again in what you can do and what you will eat. Baby sitting, mowing lawns and cleaning house are what many seniors find to do that they did as teens. Some paint and some do other repair jobs and even sew. They find a shop that will hire seniors and work short hours and they work part time to make above the poverty level. In God's kingdom those that have death bed confessions are still geting into heaven. However do you have the mental compacity to make a death bed confession upon dying. Those not alert do not. So it time to plan ahead.
The labors of God's kingdom come with the picking of the crops, and working in the fields. The hope of the death bed confession gives to the children who waited for papa to get saved no longer worry about his eternity that they themselves could not change. The son that died in the car wreck never receiving Christ or did he believe but was not ready to share the knowledge with the world, the family is lost in their heart never knowing what their son believed. He was a good boy they say.
Now you have people receiving Christ and God saying come on the vineyard is ripe and it needs picking and tending to and the labors are few. Each day he goes and check to see who is available every hour, with nothing to do. Come and pick the fruit in my garden and I will be pay you for your labor Jesus says. As the labors come to receive their pay, each is given a penny, each is given even amount of pay as those who not worked at long. It did not matter if you were their 12 hours or only one hour your pay was still the same. Despite whether it was right in your eyes, it was right in the owner of the vineyards eyes. Who are we to question why God is paying the same for less work. However God is, he paying the heritance of eternity in glory. Despite if we grumble and complain we all getting the same pay. If you think about it when we reach eternity do you think we will lack for anything. The heritance of a life time is in glory land and no matter how long you work for God upon belief in Jesus, the pay will be the same.
Does it seem right for drug dealer to make more money then the president. Does it seem right for a drug dealer to make more then the wealthiest business owner in our land. Does it seem right for evil to prevail when right is still right and the wrong is still wrong. We sit and we realize the wealth of the land is not always made by hard work. It might not seem fair. I was reading a Psalm that is post below that speaks of this very thing. However we got to realize those of faith we carry on in our faith despite the world evilness prevail without receiving the knowledge one day it will meet it demise when Jesus returns. That is the believers hope. That were we rest in the hope of God and his blessings. Be happy when one more is taken out of the fires of hell and saved from the wrath to come. Don't worry how long you worked, look how many are saved from the wrath to come.
Dear Heavenly Father, we all struggle with the harshness when evil rising in the world, but let us hold to the faith that as evil arises you will send your Son to return one day to the earth. That when he comes, he is coming to take your children home to be with him and to reign with him in sweet Beulah land. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 37:1-40 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
