Deliverance Of Captives 6/09/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 4:18 KJV
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
I spent about two hours looking for a particular scripture passage this morning did not find it. Then I got to thinking why did Christ come, after all God had taken his people allowed them to go into captivity as a punishment to them. Yet he allows them to return to the land of promise with a parole officer watching over them in their captivity. Their parole officer is Rome. Not even of the faith of the people of Israel. Christ comes to preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the broken hearted and preach deliverance to the captives, recover the sight to the blind and for those that are abused he set them at liberty. How can Israel gain their freedom. Even the world at the time of Israel was corrupt but the liberty came through worship of God. Daniel liberty came with standing true to faith in God as he was lowered in the lions pit and then set free the next morning as he watched the people the entrapped him be devoured by the lions he slept with the night before.
Are we entrapped by captivity of our own making or the making of others because we deserve it not. Jesus came from above into a place that some desired not the ways of God and others were hungry for the ways of God, yet not so willing to sacrifice their lives yet for God. There were those that died in faith with the hope of promise of eternity. Jesus died receiving the hope of eternity as the disciples discoverd Christ had rose up to see his Father in heaven. Yet the grave still occured because of captivity of sin of the world that he had come to live in and had crucified him.
We has believers are living in captivity as we speak. We long for the promise land of hope. Yet the captivity we experience is because we live in the world of sin and walk in the streets where sin is and nothing is done about the sin in the streets because it the way of the streets. Way of governmental law. We ourselves as believers may obey the way of Christ and see the miracles in our life performed because of faith in Christ and because God honors the faith of his people in captivity.
As believers we almost need to take a crash course in the world of law that says no one guilty until it prohibits the rights of someone else. How our world is focus on living life for oneself and not others. Christ came living his life dedicated to the work of the Gospel of faith, miracles, and healing of broken hearted and abused. Those that desire the ways of Christ are looking for more then the world outside around them or around their core habitation of believers that have a wall of heathens around them watching and hoping to steal the life blood from their own soul if they can. Only to be entrapped themselves by the compassion of the believers.
Christ in captivity in a world not his home, did more miracles and more healings of people in need not just physical but spiritual then most of us will ever see in a life time. When Christ set the captivities free he setting them free from the gates of hell. He removing the changes that held them to the grave. Yet Christ will go to the grave knowing his resurrection was just in sight and he would be deliverd at the appointed time of the Father full of grace and truth.
God displays two things in Old Testament history, the road to captivity and the road to the promise land. The road to captivity we might as well strip down and show our nakedness of ourselves to the world for they care nothing of our spiritual soul, or our mental health. They care only about the repeated abuse they are able to inflict on another not like themselves though they seem to have all the same body parts. The trip in the wilderness of faith is based on first salvation in Christ. Our soul cleanse from all prior sin through the blood of Christ. Our soul now ready for the journey with God before us as Christ demonstrates how to love in the desert of faith by His Spirit. God wrath only being poured out on children of disobedience. No God demonstrated his love and poured it out for us throught he cross of his Son.
Christ in the wilderness of faith before those of faith, teaching those learning about faith outside the camp of Jerusalem and entering in from time to time, entering the synagogues and teaching there. What did Christ see a generation with traditions and not always faith. People desiring faith but not enough acknowledge about their own faith, or much knowledge without willing to obey God's word. or believe.
Christ living in man's captivity until the changes of sin could be broken for all mankind through his death and resurrection enabling mankind to see the love of the Father. A Father that loved us despite the sin we do to each other. God is a God of mercy. Our error is the error of how we treat each other and God. Jesus came to straighten it all out and people still did not hear but those that did found every lasting freedom and hope through Christ Jesus and God's word. A hope that continues on today in a world of captivity, the waiting station of spiritual life so to speak, where we either spend eternity in hell and the lake of fire or we spend it with Jesus in the Spirit or inside the body of our incorruptibility based on faith. God sent Jesus as a peace offering to the world. A gift of salvation to all that would receive this truth and Christ as Lord.
Dear Heavenly Father you set the captives free and continue to set the captives free by spiritual faith. Help us to go sharing the gospel of freedom and not to be tangled by the yoke of the world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: James 5:1-8 KJV
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
