Final Preparation 7/31/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisProverbs 16:1-6 KJV
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
The preparation of our heart is the final thing we ever need to do in life concerning our relationship with God. Meaning it not the death bed confession I speaking of, I speaking of the preparation of the heart of man to receive from God his word, his voice, leaving the opportunity for God to speak and deal with the human heart. God will lead us to repentance, lead us to the right relationship with him if we will accept his word. Accept Christ to be Lord of our life. The passage above is from Proverbs out of the Old Testament. Yet we have to ask how does it relate to New Testament. It important. When the Disciples in Acts 2 began to speak in tongues it was not by their own authority but the word came from the Lord that they spoke to the people in attendance in the streets below the upper room. Had God spoke to people prior to this time and had them utter the words he gave them. The Prophet Samuel, Prophet Baalam(not by his will though, but God's will), Isaiah, Jeremiah, Exekiel, and all the minor prophets spoke as God gave them words to speak.
The heart must be prepared to not only hear but to obey God. The answer of the tongue is from the Lord. The answer of the tongue(Spirit language) is of the Lord. Balaam not happy about prophesing for God but he did it because God told him he would. Samuel obedient unto death, yet probably at some point no always that obedient prophetic thinking we hope is there. Samuel was upset about King Saul, wanted God to be more merciful. Yet it was God's will to remove his Spirit from the man that refused to hear and obey him. Saul received but never was in a place of obedience to God. God seem to help with his popularity. We got politicians around the globe that think God helps them, but their heart is not truly willing to hear from God. We got people on the street, in the business world, and in their homes, that their hearts are not prepared to receive what God has for them to receive from his Spirit. They love the vain glory, but not the glory of God, they are leaders like Balaam who desire not to have God interference but forced in obedience to God.
When our heart is right with God and the word of prophesy is spoken we want and desire to hear the truth from God's Spirit and in the world of other believers and sometimes prophets like Balaam. Why does God allow evil to rise to destroy it. Yet he gives man a chance to prepare to hear from him and instruction for the work they feel called to do. We live in a time it easy to believe all that on the news, but the streets, the places to congregate tell often another story of our times. We learn at an early age to listen to the adult world, never grasping the conversation complete tell we come to a certain age. We hear the sounds of joy, the sounds of war, the sound of poverty, the sounds of wealth, the sounds of celebration and so forth. I even remember talk of Vietnam not understanding to little ot make sense of it. Do we hear the voice of God speaking, even to our leaders or to us about our leaders. I remember God speaking to my heart about nation as a little girl and not full understanding until adulthood. The preacher did not speak it, God spoke by his Spirit to the heart to those that listened.
Solomon wisdom came from God and with it coming from God his heart had to be prepared so he could utter the things of God and yet not all of Solomon ways were of God. Our heart may hear but our actions come forth what our heart truly is about. When we grieve in our soul over loss, over wrong, over evil that should of been good intentions. From within our heart our actions speak true love of caring for another, compassion on a stranger and hope for a child needing encouragement that comes from the heart. God's Spirit also speaks about wrath, and that something our heart is not so prepared to hear about judgment because the believer is saved by grace. Nor are we prepared for evil to arise and to get worse. You can move to the right neighborhood and find in ten years that good neighbor changed over night to the corruption of teensage delinquents. That safe neighborhood you thought you moved your kids into as now corrupt your children into doing things you never thought they would because kids are kids and growing up, they learn both good and bad things. That experimental drug, the drunk driving arrest, and the spray painting downtown might be over the limit for some parents. Yet kids are seeing it and knowing the difference of Christ in your life.
Godly parents make a difference in one's kids life and the life of the kids in a neighborhood that not so perfect after ten years. They know the difference and desire good things, but that one night of mistakes tells that story of a child being rebellious against the good things he understand and sees for at the minimum one night, that might take months to get a child straighten out and back to wholesome living. God warns the parents that will listen. That did I not warn you about hanging out with so and so or least by yourself. Okay to talk but do not get in a car and go somewhere with them.
It is those warning God's parents need to take seriously and it is those people God's people need to still care about. Shunning neighbors never work, it only takes them further in the direction of evil. God's voice speaks to society, to politician, to the ministers, teachers, and to individuals. Your ability to hear comes with the preparation of your heart to receive from God anything he has to say on any subject or issue you are concerned about. It not in your timing he will speak perhaps but it will be as you have need of the information.
Do not worry about what you will speak when asked to speak. Just be prepared to speak, be prepared with the knowledge of God's word, God's truth, and God's will. Most of all be prepared to share the Gospel of Jesus, how he died for you and saved your soul. Your own testimony sometimes is all that is needed. Be prepared in your heart to hear what God is speaking to you. You might even find yourself rejecting Gods' word at times, dont' worry others have too. Just be willing to obey his will for your life. Remember God's Spirit has sealed your heart upon faith in Jesus, he the one that enables you to do the will of God and to testify.
Dear Heavenly Father, prepare our hearts to speak you wisdom and truth. Prepare our hearts to receive your will in our life. Prepare our hearts to give answer to anyone that ask. In Jesus precious name. Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 2 Peter 1:20-21 KJV
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
