Protection By Obedience and Salvation 7/28/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisExodus 12:1-13 KJV
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
The blood covenant coming through what known as the Paschal(Passover) Lamb, the lamb killed to use it blood on the door post of the Hebrew people for their protection as the death angel passover. The first born of the Egyptians would be killed by the death angel that God sent. Today we talk about the the angels weeding out the land of Egypt. The punishment sound cruel til you remember Pharoah killed the baby boys of the Hebrew people in Exodus 1. God repays he going to repay right where it hurts. This was clearly revenge for God hardened the heart of Pharoah he could neither repent nor turn from his unbelief. God was teaching his people the severity of his wrath along with the protection of obedience to him.
The separation of the weeds from the wheat fields, seen perhaps more clearly with the death angel. The separation coming with all that believed and obey the voice of Moses and Aaron and obeying their command concerning the blood on the door post. Lamb blood protecting the first born of God the people of Israel, born not of physical only but also spiritual life. God's first born is Israel and Christ after the cross first born was and is his people.
Somedays when I typing I feel like about to drown with the message but there is a point that needs making. God's covering and God's division is happening here and now. Anyone with faith that put that blood on their doorpost as instructed was protected as long as they were in the house when the death angel passed by. What is protecting God's people today is the blood of Christ, as it applied to our sin, we are cleansed from all unrighteousness, but we are also willing to submit to his will, his ways, and follow his instruction when applying the blood of Jesus. Now none of us do it perfectly, but Satan believes and trembles and follows not the will of God. He is in opposition to God's word.
If we remember Noah no blood was applied, but God seal was on the door. God seals our hearts with the Holy Spirit marking us one of his children upon salvation. Two different types of purging or weeding out in scripture. First evil group utterly destroyed by water. The second evil group only the Pharaoh and his troops were completely destroy, leaving rest of the country behind in Egypt.
Why is any of this important to our faith. Christ returns there is going to be a removal this time of his people and the wrath of God will poured out on mankind that believes not the word of God concerning his Son. That he came and took away the sins of the world, but to receive salvation one must believe. His blood covering being our protection from the punishment of eternal death, and the protection of being sealed by the Holy Spirit on his people even during the time of destruction upon the heavens and the earth. When do Christ's people get take up to be with Christ, when he returns?
The mystery of his return is simple we wait and trust in his promise of his return until his arrival. We read his word knowing that the signs of destruction are even in our land, but knowing the message of Christ, love, peace and hope is still here with us. As long as it here the weeding that occurs is to demonstrate God's judgment and salvation. The judgment for eternity is for all people that continue to reject Christ. A division by unbelief and belief. Belief having a responsiblity to obey God, not just have faith but works should follow to demonstrate whose child one is. Obedience to God's will in one's life is important. God has called the believer out of bondage of sin for a purpose and that purpose must be understood to follow the Spirit of God and obeying the voice of God. We must be busy about following the will of God first being people of good works, learning to walk by the Spirit as we pray for guidance to learn from his word, to learn patience, understanding and wisdom. These things we do until the coming of Christ then in the New Jerusalem the light of God will continue to teach and instruct us in his ways.
God did not stop Pharoah from murdering the babies, he took revenge in due time. How evil was the world when God took revenge on the people of Egypt. God merciful as far as allowing people time to repent, but when they fail to do so destruction is coming to them. We only need to sit back and watch as God destroys them. God protection on his people even during troubless times, is a work we will never full understand as his grace, because we desiring the full protection of no harm coming to us in anyway including what we have but that not how it is promised. Job was tested by the devil. God took Job through it. God still promises to take each through life struggles. He will bring the way of escape. What is his escape. When God's people loose all material possessions but are still praising God that how you know they found the truth of their faith being greater then the things of this world. There been times I hit rock bottom in my life and God has brought me to place of worship, to a place of knowing his hand was in my life. When I think on these things, I know God is more merciful then we can imagine. When we think of the trials of slavery in our own land as slaves got saved and began to sing their own spirituals of their faith, their own journey through song. We see people of faith with hope that God would deliver them. This same God preached in the pulpit to their slave owners, but spoke to their hearts about the love for them. Upon salvation it did not change their circumstances but it changed their heart to a people hope for the time of freedom.
By Grace we are saved, not of our works, but our obedience to God also gives us salvation when we follow his instruction here on earth. Salvation after death can only come through the cross of Jesus. If we obey God and it leads to our demise, then our hope is in our eternity when we believe in Jesus. God's people in Egypt enslaved, but not without hope, not without being beaten, and not without God's grace and protection for the leader that would lead them out of Egypt.
Dear Heavenly Father, your grace is sufficient for our needs. Knowing your Son's blood was poured out for all who would believe. Your protection and your seal on the believers life. Lord open the eyes of the blind, that they will see your love for them. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Revelation 7:1-4 KJV
1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Revelation 9:1-4 KJV
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
