Exodus 8:20-25 KJV
20 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
21 Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.
22 And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
23 And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be.
24 And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies.
25 And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.

Division is a word used in mathmatics to reverse multiplication. Pharaoh ranks were fixing to be divided. When I look at the state of affairs in Washington I sometimes wonder about our political leaders train of thinking when they speak, it is as if they do not realize their words can cause a riot, anger, and even cause division. Then I think that what the politicians want is to divide their people from the core group of people around them. You can not unite and divide a nation at the same time, for it does not bring unity, it only brings division. Leaders often speak in division because of opposition. Election year is coming up and Democratics want their display of their people's loyalty as the Republicans had. What is the cost of life. I heard a politician speaking the other day of slavery and the issue of babies being ripped from the arms of their mother, and yet the politician is for abortion. The division becomes right there. It okay to rip a baby out of the womb but not out of the arms of a mother. I am prolife and pro protection of the people. Yet within prolife you still have a division of protection for the mother, the woman that pregnant especially her health and well being. I believe in teaching responsibility of the woman and man before the pregnancy, not after the fact. Respect for one's body not to abuse it to cause harm to it when possible.

Division by God comes with blessings of God. No way Moses could predict flies coming in to Pharoah house and not to the land of Goshen without it being the word of the Lord. Pesky flies that swarm to say stop right here and let God's people go. Remember in this palace is both Egyptian and many other nationalities serving in Pharoah home and in the servant quarters. The servant quarters were attack by the flies as well. I killed a pesky fly last night, the first one I did with my bare hand, big deal, but this was not one little fly that attacked but many flies and effect God's people in high position of the palace.

Question can God unite his people to get the Pharaoh to let them go, one might ask, well it depends on the status of structure. Pharoah had to realize he was not only outnumber but out played in his war game with Moses as he learn he about the loss of his son, no it would be when he was drowning in the red sea. He could no longer hold to the shirt tails of the Israelites and drag them back into slavery.

The way to keep division from happening and unity of people to rise is not subdivide the people but have the ability to hear in the mist of election time the voice of all Americans being the people's leaders and not just one group of people voice. Most politicians will never do it. They do not have control over their own agenda that must not allow the ranks of their party to be subdivide by the ranks of the people political influence of the other party. God's maneuver would be seen by his people not only division but sent them screaming back to their own people tell them flies were gone. However we might not know what the Israelites did that were in the servant quarters we can not imagine the heart felt anger to hear God protect the people in the land of Goshen that would no doubt bring division, but also a reality check Pharoah was not God or had the power to stop God. God bring division to unite them to him, to bring them back to not only the land of Goshen but to the promise land.

How many Republicans are scurrying to subdivide from Democrates and some will not make it our but remain to cause chaos in Washington. Words sound to much like each other, most know how to communicate poetically on the floor of the White House and tap dance there way into the democratic agenda. Yet the voice of reason needs to win the voices of divison this time to keep our nation unified as a people because of our economy.

Pharaoh economy was going to be busted. These flies not only effected the palace and servant quarters but the land of Egypt. The land of Goshen would not be touched by these pesky flies. God's people unchanged by the pesky flies, or troubled by them. Instead they probably seen the swarms coming to their border and stopping, only to wonder about the strange sight. No doubt israelites had compassion for their fellow countrymen that served in the Palace.

God's division does not come without compassion. It does not come without the reality of his judgment and wrath. How many seen storms by God coming only for God's people go into help after the storm. We got to ask how blind was Pharaoh to God's compassion has he removed the flies. Removed each plague has Pharaoh promise to let his people worship their God.

When the tables of Washington wants to subdivide church teaching, or principals of benefits from evil situations, then we loose the benefits and blessings of God has given despite the destruction and abuse of man. Slavery in the palace is no different then the problems outside the palace. God's people having to hunt for their own straw to make bricks for building and to haul it to location and use it for whatever was being built. God's people were beaten harshly for not doing as they were told. Moses even killed a man because of beaten Israelite had received. Harshness of Pharoah being played out on God's people and God saying you think that tough try these flies for size.

God has his people suffering with Egypt and other nationalities for a reasons. If they been immune to the flies do you think they would not of had a hard life in the palace. Why do God's people suffer with others, to be a testimony and a light of who God is. That God's storm would be won with the praise on the lips of those that served in the palace. No doubt God's people rejoiced after each plague was gone. Praising God and saying Hallelujah, yet angry because Goshen people were exempt from the plague.

God has always allowed his people to be divided for his purpose. In war if you have your people swarm the backside of the enemy, with troops coming in front, it allows the enemy to be sandwiched in between. Your in the palace and see God's wrath upon you, it either going to straighten you up or destroy you. Because you know if you call on God's name he will deliver you.

When we examine how God frees enslaved people we have to ask are we being subdivided because of our sin, or are we being swarmed by pesky flies to get us to the altar of grace. Enslaved by sin is not the place to be, the plagues of Egypt a gift to demonstrate that wrath of God to come upon people of disobedience, at any time Pharoah could of ask to worship God too. When Israelites leave more then Israel left out of the land of Egypt to go into the wilderness.

When God sub divides people he does so to deliver people. During slaved days without abologist teaching slaves, and children of white slave owners teaching young slave children they played with things they knew, end of slavery would of been a long time in coming, it still would of come, but much more blood then the Civil war. When our nation divided people of all racist fought on both sides of the line. Yet to admit that our nation would have to say the war was no longer because of slave issues or only a small portion because of slavery. Part of the war had to do with economics. Farmers being productive different then factory workers. It is still true today. Big industries fight to remain to make the sale. While food production still in full swing with higher prices and necessity for the people.

Jesus says, "suppose yet that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you Nay but rather division", remember he came to bring peace, but he coming again to bring his wrath to come. To bring division of those that are his from those that are not his. God brings division it comes with education, with knowledge of who God is. When you feel your in a storm between the truth of God's word that bring peace and hope and destruction, God is definitely asking you to decide on what path you want to choose. Most of us desire peace then a storm. Yet we sometimes run into the storm thinking we are immune only find pesky flies all over us too. God wants to remove the pesky flies from his people, he does not want them bit by the sins of the the unbeliever.

Dear Heavenly Father, you grace is sufficient for your people to keep them in a place of peace and not a place of constant war and battle. God protect the things that are of you that unite our nation. Keep our leaders from sub dividing our nation. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
