Purify A Peculiar People 7/13/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisTitus 2:11-15 KJV
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Jesus came first to redeem the people and then he came to purify unto himelf a peculiar people, zealous of good works. If to understand there are things in God's word we need to take on faith. The first verse that all men have seen the salvation of God is one of them. With testimony of those that found hope before faith in Christ we know this to be true, no not even looking back can we prove all men had seen salvation or that it had appeared to all of them. It is a bold statement that Paul makes to Titus and the early church. What did God teach man go to verse 12 of what posted and we see God teach to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, to live soberly, faith and godliness before the world. Even without the knowledge of God there are men and women that live godly lives. It is attribute of many, but it does not make them saved. The knowledge of right living is known to the world. In fact Old Testament laws were some of the orignal laws of mankind as laws developed. The ethical code of humanity is given to all mankind. God is the Lawgiver and God is law, meaning his word is to be obeyed. The consequences of his laws being broken as been death since Adam and Eve. When redeeming his people, Jesus came as a covering for their sin, their payment for sin, a protection for their humanity. Earth is that place we decide whose side we are on. If we want God protection from sin, or do we want to walk in the consequence of our sin maybe even into eternity. As a child I remember watching some school kids in a park swing on some vines. Even the teacher got involved in it. As the child swung across the ditch, he let go. We were told just do not let go. I say by my uneducated training the ditch between to sides was about a five foot drop, no worse then dropping off a monkey bars, but what was below was the problem. It was was an old river bed full of rocks. As the child swung on the vines, the vine held, but the little boy that was on the vine did not. He came crashing down into a bed of rocks getting cut by some of the sharp rocks below. I do not remember what happen beyond the cries of the child that fell. I do remember no rescue was called, so he must of been okay beyond simple scraps from the rocks, but I know I never got a chance to swing on the vine across the ravine.
Truth of the situations the child by disobeying and letting go, he came to untimely accident though not severe to cause ambulance to come, but severe enough for him not to desire to do that again. It is the learning to follow the rules that can keep one safe in life, but rules do not save one into eternity, because we all fall short of all rules made. Who did not chew gum in the classroom, who did not pass a note in class, and who did not fly down the road driving to get to work. Who remembers to obey all the rules without error. Jesus obeyed God rules, but man's rules he failed at. God still does not obey the laws of man in society, but obeying the rules he established from the beginning. When man says one can not get up and walk because of scientifically proven it will not happen, Jesus enables man to get up and walk. Not all the time, but just a simple truth. When science tries to prove why it can't happen, man continues to make strive without science. When man says he can live without the law of man, he proves he can but his neighbors can not. God's laws are worse then man's laws in many ways. Worse in a good way not evil way. Man says he does not need God's laws because he has man's laws and he finds out the law of man will get your killed without the law of love and mercy that God provides for man.
The law of mercy came with guilty conscious caused by sin that repentance came to God, but never the law of man unless acknowledge of the law that would surely mean death because man showed no mercy. Grace abounds between believers, between the sinner in need of grace and a person of faith. Yet the sinner may still find the consequences of the legal law that mercy may not be able to be shown but by a judge that believes in mercy in some cases.
Breaking the laws in man's eyes, imitates the laws of God yet it still lacks total forgiveness in many cases. Once broken and caught you still have to pay or be marked by the crime if the crime is something that can not be worked out by the person one transgressed. Crime of the world looks for loopholes in the law, because to be marked and not face pentalty begins to be the lable for some types of gangs. Some gangs are marked by the time you served behind bars.
Christian club is marked by the covering of the blood of Jesus, marked by the Holy Spirit, who is going to purify and perfect you in the ways of God. God's club one of safety, and the gang club often one of violence, abuse, and drugs. No matter if you are rich or poor, in a good neighborhood or questionable neighborhood, you still have the covering of Christ. The blood of Christ that was poured out for our sins, for he died in the perfection of obedience to God throught his cross, and protected man despite who he was as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, paid the price and rose again to live with God in his kingdom sitting at the right hand of the Father. God's people no matter their location they live, or are in, are to set the example of faith in God, yet we all fail at this including me. God's grace that protects man upon faith. It God grace that gives man a chance to decide who team he desires to be on. It God's grace that we do not perish even after belief. It God's grace that we have eternal hope through the resurrection of our Lord.
When we allow Christ to remove the punishment for our sins, punishment that for eternity, he begins to purify us not just cover our sin. He begins to purify our hearts to see the goodness of godly ways, godly choices, and godly life style. He begins to show how his love must be demonstrated in our life to others as well as a testimony of his love for all mankind. It the purifying through the word that changes people to live holy and even pecular at times doing something no one else would in certain situations. Forgiving when forgiveness should not been given. Providing hope when hope seem gone, providing when we can not ourselves provide.
Christ begins to take that impossible person and change them to be a person of possibilities. Change them into people of hope and grace. He begins to teach us by his Spirit about his gifts to man. How long suffering is how God has been through out the ages of time, and yet man long suffering with another is not through eternity. To see the enemy go to the altar God is doing something in the heart of that person, change them. They may not apologize to you, but they are on the road of allowing God to change them. It all starts with salvation, so pray for your enemy, pray that God's grace will light the path ever so bright that your enemies will desire it. To pray for your enemies and not seek revenge in hopes that your enemy finds God's grace and covering through the blood of Jesus too. The consequences of sin and their is no escape for the wrath of God to come. It will be like the days of Noah.
God choice for peculiar people began on the road to the promise land. God redeeming his people to know his ways by taking them in the wilderness, yet some have thought it was only for Israel, yet it always been a choice for all mankind. Israel people were to be example of what people of faith were all about. God took a people to teach what his grace was about. For with Christ they need for sacrifice was taken way, but the need for priesthood was not abolished, but Jesus became the only Priest anyone ever needed. We are God's treasure, God's master work. God shaping us through his Son into vessels called to be treasures, people of value to God. With our value comes people that recognize our value as children of God. Some people see value in people of disability and others do not. Some people only see the disability and not the ability of a person. God see the ability not the disability of a person. He created someone without arms, what can they do, they learn to use their feet and other body parts not design to be used that way, but is being used to eat, dress, and so forth. People without use of their legs, learn to scoot, roll and get to where they going with or without assistance. If we look at the unbeliever and see only inability we do not see a person that can learn about faith or learn to obey the laws of God. They assume those that learn the ways of God must be a believer, no that not true. People see the hope of the believer by obedience of God's ways sometimes before they understand about his grace or salvation. Sometimes people learn about salvation before they learn to be good moral citizens desired by society. God's eternal salvation must be preached to all and allow God to change and enabled new believer into peculiar person God intended them to be. We might look at the handicap as being peculiar, but God's people are even more peculiar. The handicap being sin without knowledge of God's saving grace.
Dear Heavenly Father, make us into peculiar people for your glory and honor. Enable the handicap to see the value of salvation through Christ Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
