According To Your Faith 1/26/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 9:27-31 KJV
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.
I head a story once of a person in a wheel chair that went to a healing ministry to see if she could be healed. There were many people in wheel chairs there and they usher them out near the end of service during the altar call, so they could not go forward to ask for healing. Who lacked faith the one in the wheel chair on the ministry. I heard stories where ministers were called to pray for a people in chairs and I heard about a few that said they prayed for people in wheel chairs, and they were healed(stood up and walked). I have to tell you it takes more faith then some minister have. I have no issue praying for someone, but I am sometimes a little skeptical not of God ability to perform miracle, that he going to allow me to see the healing of one in wheel chair. Then I reflect on the fact, I was in pain head toward a wheel chair. I even had gone to the point of having a ramp built on my house when we built a small deck. That how sure I was that I would be in chair before I grew old. Each day was painful for me. I am sit at my computer and tell you the truth, do I believe yes I do, because I was healed, but I also going to tell you when God's heals it is never in our timing. Do pray expecting the lame will walk? Most of us don't have that kind of faith even if we believe in God is able to perform it before our vary eyes. This lesson is entitled According To Your Faith. Where is your faith when in comes to one's own healing and healing for others you pray for? Are you flippant or sincere with prayer. I will admit there times I prayed and been at a loss of words and my mind goes everywhere but where it needs to be. I suspect others struggle too.
Where is your faith to be healed? Are we complacent in faith? If you have strong faith, do you still doubt despite you know if you ask in Jesus name it will be according to his will. However what about being according to your faith? These blind men came expecting for Jesus to open their eyes. They followed to the house crying Son of David have mercy, and Jesus did not give them the time of day. They came to the house and enter and Jesus said what can I do for you? And they said we want to be able to see. Jesus said, do you believe I am able? They said yes. Jesus said let it be according to your faith. Fame spread again despite Jesus words of caustion. Maybe they didn't tell but their friends and family perhaps did. They may of obeyed but the onlookers could not shut up, because miracles were happening. The other day My husband and I stopped at a friends house and I decide to walk home, and I got part way home before my husband caught up to me. I was about a block from the house. There is a point, it was pretty outside, the distance not so great and I really had not done any distance walking in a while and in truth it was good to walk that distance. However it was cold. The wind was a little colder then I thought, and I was fixing to hit a shady spot and I said Lord i really don't want to walk in the cold shade up the hill. My hubsand came and gave me a lift. An answer to prayer, but most would not believe it was answer knowing the distance. However faith is not without knowledge. These men following Jesus was crying out to him, but he refused to hear them for whatever reason. Then when they went into the house following him, he said do you believe I can heal you. He did not touch their eyes, he allowed their faith to play a part in the miracle. Sometimes we got to do the asking to receive, but we have to be ready to allow our faith to take hold of Jesus ability to heal.
To stand in the prayer line in the hopes of saying see I told you so, God can't do nothing is like going naked before the throne of God and saying I know Jesus, but you never receive his protection because you never ask him into your heart. He looks at you and say I never knew you depart from me. Did you believe God could save you through his Son Jesus, through the cross of Calvary, if you did why did you not ask him too. Faith has to come with the asking and seeking out, and sometimes the persistance. How far the distance did the men walk crying out to Jesus, calling him the Son of David, before they enter his house we do not know, but we know they did not stop until they heard from Jesus. He said according to your faith. We must receive Christ as Lord for the healing of our soul, the same way receive even physical healing with faith. However there is a blind man in John 9 that was born blind his healing did not come for fifty years. His mother and father people of faith and him as well. Is God going to use your healing to bring others to him?
Where is your faith? Why have you not asked? If you did ask, are you willing to keep asking til you get an answer? We need to keep praying as believers until we reach the throne room of God and get an answer? Then are you willing to have the faith to receive? It sounds complicated, because you know your own thoughts and your own skeptism about it all. Allow God to show you and to teach you to have faith. Ask him to teach you to have faith, to help in any unbelief you have today and forever.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to receive the blessings of faith, based on our faith in you and your ability demonstrated by your Son. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
