Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 2:1-11 KJV
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

"Trust and obey for there is no otherway to be happy in Jesus; a verse of a song of old Gospel hymn that is still sung today, yet do we grasp the meaning of the words trust and obey. This story of the water being changed into wine. This story has to do with obeying Jesus in his earliest days of ministry. Jesus and his mother were attended a wedding. And when the servants ran out of wine they did not know what to do. Upon hearing the problem she told the servants obey my son name Jesus. Do whatever he tells you to do. I sure as he told them to fill the pots with water they probably consider themselves dead at this point because nobel people were there at this wedding and upon taking the first cup of water to the governor, the governor was please with the wine he was served because it was common to serve the best wine first and then the worse wine later. He consider this wine good.

Simple obedience to Jesus solved the servants at the feast problem, they had plenty of wine upon adhering to the words of Jesus. Earthen jars or water pots were filled up and no one knew where the wine came from but the servants knew. This was the beginning of the miracls Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and it showed his glory as the Son of God and his disciples believed on him. The begining of belief coming with miracle, coming of belief beginning with evidence to the disciples. It was a miracle before the governor of Cana of Galilee.

The story is important to note this miracle was done in honor of a marriage. And honor of a marriage to come of all believers in Christ. Christ would be the best wine served on the cross, his blood pour out for our sins. Some not understanding who Jesus was or did not know who Jesus was would help have him crucified in ignorance to the knowledge of who Jesus was. After all it be the time of the passover feast in Jerusalem when Christ would be crucified. He is called the bridegroom and his church is called his wife/bride. Mary was already a believer when she told the servants to do whatever Jesus said. She knew no doubt by faith what it was to be bride by faith in Jesus, but she had serve Jesus as a mother and no doubt a mother that ran out of things and had to send Jesus to the market for her as well. Perhaps on more then one occasion Jesus provided what they need when serving guest in their own home. We really do not know what journey Mary had with Jesus in his growing up years, but Mary was convinced Jesus could help the servants.

Are you convinced Jesus can help others as he did in your own life, and what about Jesus working in the life of others around you, maybe going through something more calmly then thought possible. Maybe watching the love between other Christians when anger should of been. My husband is a man of grace though he has his moments and his flaws. I learned alot from him over the years about patience and love. He learned my non patience and also my grace. When his grace outshines my grace at times, then I have to ask who is he following not me, but God's grace given to each of God's children. I thank God for this especially going through storms in our life together, whether it be medical, financial or just plan to much time together. It is life with a spouse, but the greatest one can ever have is to have Christ as Lord and Savior. Being saved does not mean every day is perfect or our humanity does not try and control the situation and it can not. It is the prayer of faith that holds one's sanity together, when it really wants to fall apart. Christ loved the people of his world and he cared while here to make a joyful events wonderful or more then wonderful with the good wine. He is the wine in our life, He covers our sin, and our flaws.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to allow Christ to cover us with his wine that was poured out for each of your children to cover our sins. Lord thank you for giving us the best wine last at the cross, not at the early miracles but at the cross. For your Son rose again on the third day proving he could take on the weight of our sin through his cross and forgive us all. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Luke 8:25 KJV
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
