Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 18:15-17 KJV
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Forbid not the little children to come to Jesus. There always the question can children really receive Christ in their heart. Are they old enough to understand that Jesus loves them and that they are a sinner. Should this be a burden to a child? Should one bring their children up in faith in Christ? Should they wait to receive Christ til they are in their teens? Jesus is clear to bring the children and infants to him. When a baby is baptized in a church or is dedicated to the Lord, it is a symbol of desire and commitment to raise the child up in Christian faith and home. Baptism itself can not save you, but the knowledge of God and be taught about Father, Son and Holy Spirit as a baby into adulthood, will be established at the least in the mind and understanding to the soul and heart. Meaning opportunity for salvation to come early is far easier then later in life, but the child still has to commit his own life to Jesus, still has to do the repenting and seeking forgiveness on his or her own. It still is a decision by the individual, but the keys are given to open the door to Jesus. Faith is something that is carried through a life time. Earlier you begin that longer you have your faith.

Children today begin day care with people not always of faith. They are with their caregiver for at eight hours give or take a few hours more or less. Giving the parent less wake time with their children. The influence of the world often has the same effect as raising a child in a Christian setting. The child in the worldly setting learns the ways of the world and child in a Christian or religious setting often learns the things of faith along with the things of this world. I was nineteen when a little girl that attended a Christian school came up and started talking to me one day. She was telling me she was learning about God creation in school. It caught me off guard because I was raised in public school where God's ways are not taught, though there are christians in public school. I was a bit amused by it, but at the same time wondering what else they were learning. The conversation went to the Humpty Dumpty did not have a great fall, the horsement came and prayed and God fixed his egg. I sitting and wondering is faith to ingrained in these in the religious education that they loose sight eggs break and often not repaired.

i am for Bible being taught to kids, what I am not for is reality check of faith loosing it reality in regards to Humpty Dumpty falling and instantly he mended by prayer. No one said Humpty Dumpty was a believer. Humpty Dumpty is a mother goose rhyme and the outcome is often reality sometimes even with prayer. Gospel tells of wonderful miracles and it takes faith to believe in healing, but it also takes faith to accept when God does not answer immediately being part of his will. It doesn't mean we stop praying, or seeking God for the miracle, but we have face God's will is not always miraclous. Why do I say this to discourage child like innocent faith, by all means no. For a child to loose hope? No. To explain our ways and desires are not always intuned with God's plan or will. Sometimes bad things happen and we have to receive it with the knowledge that we need to pray, but that God's will in this situation might not be the same as our desire. It not to give up hope Humpty Dumpty can not be repaired by a miracle, it is to know an egg falling off a wall is liable to break. A child without understanding that danger from some crazy height can break bones, it also means that some one has to live as a crippled afterwards, or be buried in a grave. Humpty Dumpty might not lived to see life on earth, but his eternity is based on his faith in Jesus.

We have to come with the innocents of faith, and trusting in God's miracle ability, but we must also come with the knowledge of this world not havin everything God repairs our way. The other day my two dogs were fighting over a toy, My husband spotted it had begun to rip on the seam. Trust me a quick repair job is far simplier then allow them to continue to allow it to be ripped. Taking the toy from the two dogs and one climbing up on the foot stool to watch me sew and the other sitting near me, wondering why I was repairing their toy. Seam was only made to last a little while before it would be ripped probably out again. Every healing, every miracle comes with also the start of decay in the body for it to one day face death unless Christ returns before death of the person.

Faith coming with the knowledge that miracles of God are for a purpose to aid in the journey of a person's life, to produce faith in both the believer and non believers. To encourage and to strength the person with the reality of God will not look at miracles as quick fix or every day event in a personal life. A child loosing a parent can grasp that hopefully their parents were saved, understand that miracle that did not save their parents, they can still have hope, that they will one day see their parents again. The family unit of faith and training a child up in faith, explains to the child the importance of family remaining together even into eternity. To not teach about Christ miracles lacks faith that all things are possible with God. It teaches faith has no value, but to teach about Jesus is to have that hope within one's heart in all situations. Teaches how God intervenes in our world we live in, and why prayer is still important even without the instantaneous miracle.

If we receive all that is in the word of God, God intervention was for a purpose and not just an event in scripture but a part of the reality of faith. If you pray expecting God is going to provide a person with an answer. The journey of faith is about seeing the hope into eternity. Adults must come like children, with the expection of God can do it, expecially when we in ourselves can not. It much easier to learn as a child, then adult. It must easier to learn things of faith as children, because as we grow and receive into adulthood we question everything against our understanding of this world and God is not of our world. He created our world, but he not of this world. He a part of the world in regards to interaction with it, within all his ability. His power supercedes our world and the world's understanding of God's ability.

Train a child to have faith and do not worry about the egg being broken and not repaired, life teaches children these things, but prepared to catch the little ones with knowledge of it not God's will for the egg to be repair, to understanding God's miracles still exist. God's purpose for each of us, in the journey will enable each person of faith to carry on.

Dear Heavenly Father, give each parent the knowledge that teaching their children even in their home and in this world about Jesus is important to help with faith and even to encourage faith. Faith alone is a long lasting journey. In Jesus precious anme, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Proverbs 22:6 KJV
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
