Standing On The Rock 12/26/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Corinthians 10:1-5 KJV
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
I talk about Christ being the word, if I talk about Christ being what the church is built upon, as the foundation stone, the the foundation is Christ cross and in the resurrection is by what means God becomes, is, was, and always will be Masterbuilder. Something man can not be and that God or God's word. God's people are on mission to try and declare God's word by the Holy Spirit but just like Israel they often find themselves standing in the desert heat and not on the solid rock of his word or Christ alone who is Chief Cornerstone.
Moses goes about declaring God's word while standing on a rock and declaring what God said to do. This is not the time Moses sinned by hitting the rock twice but time after. Moses being on solid footing but Israel is still standing in sinking sand though the received the word of God, saw water spew and received the water as a refreshing cool drink in the heat of the day. Many receive God's word and drink of it and still standing on sinking sand. Why because their faith had not come to a place of stability they were still being tossed about by the storms of life but they knew miracles happened when God was sought out. And God was not yet there first go too, but he will be in time if they strive to walk by faith.
You may have been a Christian a long time but your standing on sinking sand and not standing on the Chief Cornerstone of your faith. Meaning your walking with head knowledge of what you know and see, but your not walking with the head knowledge of who God is that says he did it once, he has the power to do it in your life too. Your thirsty in the desert and see no way out. You look at the leader and saying I need a drink, instead of saying Holy Spirit teach me your ways. Place me on the solid rock that is Jesus that when I am standing there I see water pour out and able to reach down drink from the everylasting spring that never runs out. I do not have to stand in mud waist deep as water spews forth, I can sail riding in the ark of the covenant that is Jesus. I can be shelter by the arms of God has gossling are by their mother.
When reaching that place your no longer in sinking sand, you have not reach perfection, you reach a place that you know there is no turning back because word lives not only in your heart and mind but God's word is keeping your feet from sinking sand of the world. The world will try and keep you from trusting, relying and believing in the God of impossibilities, when word says know God because you can trust me.
We receive Christ never seeing hell but knowing our sins are forgiven, yet we can not at times stand on his promises that are specific in his word and spoken to our Spirit? What is happening to our thought process upon salvation that one can not trust and rely on God for other things and accept that God sometimes says no because it not according to what his word, will or way. Can we say Lord help with unbelief and draw me a map of that rock I am walking on but cant see. Can you show me each step as I need to take so I do not find myself in sinking sand again. Question are you where you need to be in receiving God's word? What is it going to take for you to get to the point your resting on his word? Third are you going to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you.
Dear Heavenly Father we thank you for your word coming in the flesh to save us from our sin. Help us to walk by faith on the solid rock of your word spoken by your Spirit to our hearts to move forward in faith on the solid rock which is Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Exodus 17:1-7 KJV
1 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
Ephesians 2:19-22 KJV
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
1 Peter 2:6 KJV
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
