The Prophetic Word Reflection 4/02/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Corinthians 13:11-13 KJV
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Has an adult we tend to put everything prophetic over the coals and the skeptism of the event being prophetic becomes a question how was that really done or was it really a miracle. Today is Palm Sunday, and once we been over this portion in all four Gospels this past month, I look at some key words as the disciples began to reflect on these past events in their life with Jesus. "When Jesus was glorified, then they remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him"(John 12:16 read in the Continual scripture Study). Reflection is half the battle, the battle of reflection is was this prophetic and being prophetic what does this mean. It means our reality of the light switch coming on when one flips the switch no longer exist in the world of prophesy, instead the light comes on with the evidence of the prophesy. Yet the question how old is that manuscript. Could it just be a repeat of similiar event and if not why not.
Prophesy in order to be real must match with what been said, and the evidence must almost be impossible or impossible for human to duplicate it in any fashion, The miracle birth of Isaac, John the Baptist, Samson and Jesus being one example of many types of prophesies. No reason for any of these men's mothers to give birth. Every womb but Mary's was dried up. It past the woman ability to conceive by natural forces and yet they conceived. Mary had not been with a man still conceived though she be betrothe to a man that desire to put her away as soon as he found out she was pregnant.
Prophesy of the plagues, the prophesy of the promise land, the prophesy given to kings to spur them into action for God and yet they still lack faith many times. Why is this knowledge important as a believer, because if God speaks to your heart or a prophet then it going to happen as said unless in Jonah case with Nineveh, God's mercy was given. Prophet speaking of the exile to go without a frown but just go as if nothing is wrong. I sorry, but I be more upset of the silent willingness to go into exile then with someone fighting for what is theirs. Yet that not how they were instructed to leave. Jews obeyed the prophets voice, because their exile was only for a time.
The wilderness prophetic word of water and water comes forth from a rock. Manna falling as declared it would with instructions on how to pick it up coming forth. And it going bad because the Hebrew people gather to much. It was to be gather before the Sabbath day for two days, so no one worked on the Sabbath, but if they picked for two days other times it would go bad and stink. Makes no common sense in the world, but it how God declared it to be picked up. And those that disobeyed learned their lesson.
Now the disciples are at the time of Jesus, are following him believing his word, but something that occured did not make full sense it was prophetic until Jesus open their eyes after he was glorified(resurrection) It did not come without reflection. Saying this is Old Testament declared by the prophets. The ass Jesus rode on in the triumphal entry not only prophetic but the words spoken as they waved the palm branches, "Hosanna, blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord". All these things had to happen to prove Jesus was the Messiah. Yet they went not examining scripture through these prophetic events to prove Jesus was the Messiah and Lord. The blindness of the time was for a purpose. The blindness was so Christ speaking of his own cross would later be seen as prophetic on reflection back. That Jesus words were true, and his action of being the Messiah was true as well. The evidence he was someone special came with healing power, the power to calm the storm, and the ability to rise from the dead.
All these things are easy to believe as a child, but as we grow into adulthood our reasoning changes and we ask how can this be. Either one believes the Bible is the biggest hoax out there or the reality of scripture is seen. The people of faith of each generation must study the prophesy of God's word. They know the word of scripture is true no matter the translation, version and transliteration that is out there. Yet the problem comes with do we have enough faith to recognize the reality of what God can do to plan a picture that would take Jesus to the cross. God's will not only prophesied but each event happening as declared. Are we skeptical as adults. God not a magic show, God is a reality for not only the people of faith, but the unbelievers that witness to belief. For most it will take more then one prophesy, more then one healing, more then one encounter with God's Spirit speaking to the heart, for one to be saved. Nothing wrong with searching, asking, hoping, longing and knowing the reality of God and Christ Jesus for oneself.
Well you believe the prophesy concerning the Messiah or pass it off as something for children only to believe. I will tell you Sarah laughed, and Abraham laughed when told they would have a child. Abraham laughed first then Sarah at a later date. Jonah ran from his call from God and when he finally got to Nineveh he had a fish whopper of a story to share of being in the belly of a fish for three days. Pharoah did not believe, and when he decided he wanted the Israelite back he chased them to the point he drowned in the red sea. What point does prophesy cause death or judgment either by God or man depends on what is spoken.
One day we will see the evidence of prophesy, the evidence of the coming of Christ. The evidence that when He returns the angels are tooting on horns. That Christ's people are lifted up to meet him in the sky. That the believer hope is no longer a longing but a reality. At fifty-three almost fifty-four, I know that the evidence of prophecy must be comb through by the saints of God to establish the evidence as being fact and truth. It our natural human instinct to do so and God would not have it any other way beyond just taking his word with no other evidence needed. Does a boss hire someone without later checking out his work and whether he really the right fit for a particular job. God knows to handle prophetic word we must know the difference between truth and a lie. God not going to leave you without the information you need. Trust him to teach you, for you may sing the praise of God but it through the walking of faith we learn to trust in Jesus and his word more deeply every day.
Dear Heavenly Father, demonstrate your grace in the believers life by the evidence of what will come and will be. Let your light of your word past, and presence speak of what will and is to be. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: John 12:12-18 KJV
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
