May God Keep Our Eyes Wide Open
11/29/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Romans 11:1-10 KJV
1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

Do we not all struggle with the idea of the thought of God hardening the heart of man. Is it God hardening or life temptation hardening us to an unbelief state. I give you non Biblical example: a child having to have his desire despite the warnings of others around him. He must have it and be consumed by it before he realizes the trouble he is in. In trouble being to great to escape. Like a child skating on a pond on thin ice, that begins break, and he falls into the pond, to his horror, but the ice was so slick and fun to glide on that he thought nothing of the danger he was in. The worship of Baal was such a destructive form of worship. From cutting themselves with knives and beating themselves with whips, the idea of participanting would have been vulgar to a true believe in God. Even sacrificial law of the Jewish faith seems very gross until one realize the bartering tool of meat, wool, and cost of a crime/sin would need to be paid for in some format. A gathering of meat for the feast and so forth especially those traveling such a long distance to celebrate in one place. The sacrfiice given to God and only to him. In our world of offering and giving of time the sacrificial gifts seems out of sink with our traditions, and yet we celebrate the resurrection with the sacrifical gift of God's Son for our sin. The cost of our sin beginning with allowing the law of man to rule our hearts to the point the law of man would destroy God's gift to the world. It was a gift God could raise up again despite our ability to destroy it. It began with the need of intercessor of God's word to man to the children of Israel. The need not to hear directly from God but needing a minister like Moses/prophet to intercede because of a fear of God. God would send his choice of intercessor to man his Son in his likeness, in his perfection to the laws of God and not the laws of man. Jesus was not a lawyer to mankind to man but to God to man. He was a stain remover in the heart of every sinner. He was the one to show us that God forgave even through cross of Calvary. No matter how thick our sin God was still forgiver to all that believed in Jesus.

The harden heart of the Jews was evidence that all did not believe God's word. It like our today many believe Jesus came and lived on earth but to believe he rose and will return is the question to some that believe not in the power of God. One is only hardening their own belief not the power of God of what he can and will do for his glory and honor. God is for his glory hardening the hearts of his people so the gentiles will believe. Harden because God said so not because man power but by the power of God. God harden their hearts because they were a rebellious people but to all that believed he gave them the power to become sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Some followed in belief as their father Abraham and were righteous by faith.

At the time of the trial of Jesus one priest ask if he was the son of the blessed. How much did they truly understand about who Jesus was and yet were in denial that it was Jesus. Faith is something we have to grab hold of even when our mind can not understand what God is planning or doing. We accept his word on faith that we will understand by and by as believers. Faith is not seen with doubt but with eyes wide open in faith. Do you have faith in God. Can you take him at his word. Abraham believed, Noah believed and Moses even struggled with all he seen, for he hit the rock twice instead of once.

These harden hearts came because of continual sin and unbelief, it was not just one time failing though Moses did not go without correction. Faith comes with seeing even when our hearts are not in what we see. Is are hearts failing when we see destruction and see death of those who we understand why they were taken. Yet God may of spoken to the heart of such events, but it did not stop the event. Christ came as a Baby Boy for the world to see and grew into man who was baptized and anointed by God in the presents of the spectators around the jordan river. Yet not all believed. It takes faith to receive what we see and faith to preceive truth.

Dear Heavenly Father keep your children's eyes open to your truth, help us to deal with events in our world upon faith that your will is being done in our presents despite not always understanding. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Isaiah 29:10-14 KJV
10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

Mark 14:61-62 KJV
61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
