Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisA Psalm 33:1-4 KJV
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
How important is worship and praise in your life? How often do you praise God? These may sound like personal question and in truth it is. For many praise outwardly in the congregation but inwardly, their heart is not so intuned to praising God. Hezekiah had order the praising of God and the sacrifices to God has king over the nation of Israel in todays continual scripture study. The Levites heart was not right with God. Is you own heart ready to praise God and are you willing to give your life to him?
I surprised no one ever asked me how long I plan to write or type. I take little time off and some might wonder how I keep typing that is God not Christina. What I mean is I can do nothing in myself but what God allows, and what God pentrates my heart to type when it comes to daily devotion. I not saying I interpret what God speaks to my heart right every morning of every day. I not saying I do not fail him in some way from time to time. I saying in my worse days God has given me the ability to type, even with the passing of love ones. I can honestly say typing is a form of praise to God. But it is also a testimony to my own heart that on the worse experience days I have had, God still allows me to move forward, to continue writing in the storms of my life. Some might think I get relief from a different mind set for a moment. I also say this work, school and so forth might need a break, but do we need a break from God or worship to our God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). In Psalm 139 it says "where can you go from his Spirit, where can you flee"(speaking of God). In truth there not a place we can outrun God. If we understand God is that stable in our life despite our short comings, who should we turn too then but God.
There are muscians that find the same solace in worshiping God through the playing of their instruments as I do typing. There many people who find the comfort of worship in the storm. Yet without the storms in life there time of celebration and praise for all God does for us. In Psalm we read these praises, time of thanksgiving and understand it in that way it is a time of celebration, a time to pull out all the instruments, sacrifices, songs and sing praises to God. Some people whistle, some hum, some shout, some sing, others make a noise and others well they make only the melodies of praise to God in their heart. We are headed into a time of thanksgiving. Time for cymbals, bells, the guitares, the drums, the piano, the organ, the orcharista, and more. It time for the saints/children of God to thank him for blessings he beslows upon us whether in good times or in the storm of life. To praise him for the victory he has in our heart, to praise him for the salvation through his Son. Thanking God for all his creation and provisions in our life. That is hand was involved in the work of even our hands.
Are we entangles with worship only in our church, or do we worship in our cars, in the places we go and our homes. There is a separation of church and state. Some would say it so those not of faith can have laws to govern by, but we all live by God's rules if we smart to hear the word to love and forgive. Where are you this morning when it comes to worship, are you at a place of worship at the minimum in your heart.
God's word alone is worthy to be praised, this morning I praise the Lord for his word and his mercy in our life when we fail to praise him for his word and to honor and believe his word. I thank Lord for his word that is sung in songs and played by the sound of instruments. The words learned that the meaning of the sound is not only beautiful but demonstrates the Spirit of God singing in our heart the melody of his word.
Countdown to Thanksgiving Day: 8 days left, I praise him and rejoice in God's greatness and wonderful things he has done in my heart first and for most even in the storm.
Dear Heavenly Father I praise you in all seasons of my life, because you are worthy to be praised. Lord you are there no matter what is going on in my life and I will sing your praises. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 2 Chronicles 29:31-36 KJV
31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
32 And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.
33 And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
35 And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.
36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
