Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 5:43-47 KJV
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Jesus came in his Father's name. His home village knew his earthly Father was Joseph. No Joseph was not his biological father this is something taken on faith that Jesus was born of the virgin Mary. Some have a hard time believing this, but when God's word speaks it will be and will come to pass as God declared it. God sent Isaiah to King Ahaz before the time of the destruction and rebuilidng of the temple. King Ahaz was told a sign of a virgin would have a child named Immanuel(God with us). When Christian take the virgin birth on faith it over a long period of time of old prophesy coming to pass in the New Testament. It not just Jesus is the Messiah to come, He is the Messiah. The message from God the Father straight to man.

See people at the time of Christ were in doubt of the reality of God. Our world today is in doubt because not of lack of prophecy, or even lack of miracles, but the lack of understanding, and to many duplications of certain types of things consider the work of God. Christian declare a open door is a work of God, whether miraclous or not miraclous. See the reality of faith goes beyond the miracle, it acknowledge of God's power working in one's life to bring things together for his will to be done in their life and life of the world.

Many Jews believed not Moses story nor took it be the words written down. It was told but it was like fable, or children story to them. Something handed down and something said like a saying yet they did not believe in their hearts the word of God. Yet God's word never changed. Jesus did miracles before the people but even in Mark 6 he could not do it in his own country because they believe not the reality of God or his word. Jesus could only teach there. The virgin birth not without proof, beyond the pregnancy. No one but Mary experienced the visitation and Joseph experienced a dream to take Mary to be his wife because she was with child of the Holy Spirit(Matthew 1). We get caught up in the story but do we believe it. Or is just a nice story told at Christmas time to the children to teach them of the peace the infant Jesus was said to bring to the world. God's peace he brought to the world, through this child.

Even his hometown believe not that he was a prophet. Yet he went to Capernaum and lived and did many miracles there and where he traveled. Why did they believe and his own people did not? It simple they seen Jesus grow up and be man, he came as any ordinary child. He was after all flesh and blood and there were many good people in that land. A good person does not make you God. There are men in are nation that claim to be God not a little God a big G. Those are the devils you need to watch out for. There many men that are little G that are billionaires and trillionaires but have only the power of their money and there world talents. Jesus was consider to be poor, but he was raised by a carpenter who would of perhaps taught him the trade of carpentry but at 33 Jesus became a teacher to the people and a prophet. Some understood he was the Messiah. Peter understand Jesus to be the anointed one(The Christ). Who do you believe Jesus is, will be up to you and evidence you receive as proof of who Jesus is. His word is true even today, that praise report of open door was laid at the foot of the cross. Just like all open doors for each believer of faith that allows Christ to move in their heart and in their life for his glory, honor and praise. If people in Christ day could doubt that knew the prophecy and had the fullfillment of his coming, don't think your doubting is not normal or in vain. It is good to know why you believe what you do. To believe Christ is the Son of God sent from him. That the word of God was writen and recorded for man as well.

Countdown to Thanksgiving day 16: Thank God for his word that he gives to each of us that believe and receive his truth.

Dear Heavenly Father, help those searching for why to believe in your Son see the hope of the recorded recorded as part of their evidence of truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 6:1-6 KJV
1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Luke 1:34-38 KJV
34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
