Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisHebrews 11:23-40 KJV
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
Today is Memorial Day, May 30, 2022 and on this day we are reminded of those who fought for freedom including religious freedom. I can not help but think why was religious freedom so important to our founding fathers who most agreed with Bible. Bible an important part of our laws and rights as people when forming the constitution. Then I remember the intellect of these men that were scholars and educated by both knowledge and life. What did those history books look like way back then. It told of the middle ages, the dark ages and all of Roman history and the Germanic tribe coming from the north. It told of expansion made through out Europe to their day and age. What they knew is religion was important to humanity, but not important in regards to governing, because no matter who was in power God was still in control. Whether it be a man of faith, or a man that had no faith, God was still in control. They knew the harshness of man without God and the harshness of man with God. They knew the kindness of those rulers with and without God because of historical accounts like we all do today. They knew when they wrote that constitution out it had meaning to everyone including those different in belief then the founding fathers. They also knew that it was a legal system worth fighting for no matter who was in power. No matter if our laws were always just, the idea of freedom and liberty sealing that constitution for our new country. The hope of a better government and a more perfect union intact. Today our soldiers still fight for all our freedoms in hopes those that stay at home will not destroy those freedom that are so precious. Their hope resting in those left behind to carry the torch they carry in war, peace mission and in aid to other countries. Not all our soldiers are men and women of God, but men and women of our nation that desires our freedom.
There two types of people in our nation, those that wish to destroy it and those that desire to uphold the constitution. Those in opposition need to understand what their opposition will bring to their nation and their own people one day. If you govern by any law other then our nation, then you will give up your life to your enemy sooner or later. Israel succumb to the enemies of God because of free will of long ago that desire an earthly king, who would not always adhere to the laws of God. Some even claim technology was the root cause of the overthrow of even God's people. However as scripture has recorded God is not devoured by technology but by his will of correction to those desiring freedom from him. Not understand his mercy and grace of yesteryear like crossing the red sea, or protection of Daniel in the lions den. These miracles for a purpose and not an everyday occurence.
Abraham received the land of promise yet many received not the promise they yearn for, because it material and not the promise of faith. Man sees man struggle for the things of this world but not the eternal life reward of another. This week I spent six days away from my computer and actually glad to be back typing whatever God lays on my heart to write. I spent the week trying to regain the past in regards to what wifely duties being on the computer had taken from me. One of them was making bread. No making bread was not a common practice, but occasional making bread especially the end of the month kind of duty or middle of the month before payday before my husband's and my world turned upside down and inside out. A way to have fresh bread without running to the store for it. A luxury none the less in our world today, where store bought become simpler and the task of bread making can become a chore if done regularly. For some the simple life outside the box seems maybe quaint, but in reality it was life of household duties to caring for the needs of my husband and I. The tending to the animals we raised and care for so long ago and not even thinking if we had one more pet it really matter, they all would be feed. I know my pantry went further then it should have on more then one occasion. Yet it freedom to what write, to breath, to enjoy the things we do so important in a land of hope and promise.
What is freedom fought for, but the promise of hope to live as you desire to live within the confines of the law. That same type of freedom religious people fight for to worship God in freedom and truth despite what others due around them by that same law. Yet the war of faith is spiritual because the true reward is not seen but only known to the believers heart. Even if we loose a battle on earth it does not mean we did not win our fight to heaven.
People of Christianity seen the persecution and heard the stories of Abraham, Moses, Daniel and wonder why they were not seeing miracles of mouths of lions shut, the river they need to cross divided and the journey to safety not always smooth path. The story of Peter when the angel open the jail door seeming impossible dream, but it was real to Peter and those who seen him right after the fact.
Our soldiers long to come home to apple pie, baseball games, families and front porches, that might not still be there to return too. Why because our own world back at home is ever changing, and reality of home sweet home on earth only is a place of the heart and soul of man of whatever he makes it. Yet faith is assured hope because strengthens our faith despite the river does not divide to cross over, the lions mouths are not shut, and the enemy jails cell can not be kept lock because of the power of God, seems impossible in today's world think again.
God did not promise a life without pain, without torment, without struggle, and without hope. He did promise a life with hope if we carry our cross in this world with faith in Christ Jesus. The soldier that returns to find his marriage gone, his children do not know who he or she is, finds the world different then when they left, do not fear, our constitution is still intact if only our leaders obey the truth of it. Those thing fought, wounded and died for still exist. To those that passed that received not the homecoming or the hope of homecoming to live in the free world but gave and sacrificed their freedom to be soldiers of our land, I have nothing but respect for you this Memorial day. To those that returned my prayer is you find happiness at home or find a home that worth the fight, the struggle, the oppression of lost freedom to orders give by leaders, that must be obeyed no matter how trivial because it would teach the soldier to respect the orders that not obeyed could cost the soldier his or her life. Freedom lost with a price of the hope of keeping one safe no matter where they traveled within our land and overseas protecting their and our freedom, giving to those in need and so forth.
My life as simple as it is, soldier living you fought for that. Soldiers that have passed, I can't change your outcome. To Christ who set me free from sin against God, I praise you, for you won the battle of my soul. The miracles you sent my way to testify of your mercy and grace, to be born in a land of freedom that still being fought for today against the terrorist of this generation, who understand not what freedom truly is. Godly freedom of choice a precious gift from above and something our founding fathers tried their best to put into law.
Point being our life is bought by God and man to enjoy this freedom. Remember science could not give freedom only hypothesis and maybe facts. It could not determine the outcome of war only give stats of who might win. Science can not define God by stats, only by evidence of God in the past. God allows corruption of our world to be overthrown and good things taken to teach us his value. With that in mind do you put your odds scientific evidence or do you just trust God who can rule your heart and not just build and destroy the governments of our world.
Dear Heavenly Father this Memorial day let us be thankful for the miracles, but also the reminders that you do not always provide the miracle but take our soldiers to their eternity, by the choice of that one freedom called faith. Lord give the soldiers living the hope of Christ, the hope of what your future with you holds. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
