God's Blessings In The Early Church: Lesson 17
5/18/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Acts 6:9-15 KJV
9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Jews from different regions were disputing/debating with Stephen. Each group thought Stephen was blaspheming according to their faith. If you ever heard a good argument concerning faith verse maybe a legal issue, who would win in modern world of any age, often times it is not the religious right but the religious leftist, and moderates of the law. Why because there is no middle ground when it comes to fundamentalist of either side of social spectrum. Now if you got to religious fundamentalist arguing they will never make it to middle ground, because of anger they feel, because they can not convince the other side of either their wrongness, or not being liberal enough.

Stephen striving about the law as a Christian the law becomes void and not void, becauseof the writting of the laws by the Spirit on the heart of the believer. Yet no doubt there was sin forgiven that by the Mosaic law was not forgiven, judgment was performed on certain sins that were forgiven. The woman caught in adultery, no one could pass judment because of Jesus writting their individual sin down. Who was so perfect they had not transgressed the law. The attitude of the jews why should we change the consequences of the law. The law of forgivness for certain crimes they deem punishable by their law. They did not consider themselves under Roman law but under the law of God only. Which laws in the Old Testament was society law and not God's law. The laws that were established with the help of Moses's father in law suggestion and the elders of the family of each tribe of Israel. Now there were knew laws writen on the law of man dealing with faith written by the Holy Spirit concerning faith in God and relationship to others, the law of love.

Does that mean Christians are Jewish, not when it comes to the law of man, only the laws concerning faith. Islam followed the laws of the jews, and not all following them in the lands outside of Islam. Are we wrong for adopting the laws of man? Christ was crucified by the law of man, and not the law of faith. Something to consider can we live by God's law without obeying man's law. Law of faith more freeing, and a blessing to people of many tribes there no discourse of what faith is, only the laws that divide them like the issue of Abortion, death penalty and so forth. If God is judge and jury of a crime, then where is Christian law of how to live, whatever state they are in, they obey those rules, only if it breaks the law of love God established.

Are we free from the law of faith if faith is in Christ Jesus, in regards to law of faith in God. Abraham law of righteousness was based on faith/belief alone. Faith in Christ Jesus dealing with the word of God being salvation at the time of Abraham, and Christ being the word in the flesh, and the Christ being the word of prophesy. Obedience to Christ in the flesh, mainly time of the first disciples as Christ walked the earth, to return with Christ coming. Does the law of Moses return only in regards to legalism of the law the land. Most americans would agree they perfer our court system better then strict law of some countries.

Why is Stephen teaching in the temple, to do away with the legal law system not the law of faith. Yet it blasyphemous to Jewish council and even religious leaders from different countries that strive to obey all religious law whenever possible, even breaking the law of man. This legal law had to due with the fact the temple ruled Israel even in the legal law sense though there be a king. The king laws never lined up with God's laws completely. Why strive against the law of man, some of it unhealthy for people. Abortion being determental to future life of the unborn. The crime of murder not being the same in all states but is federal law in regards it is a crime, how the punishment is carried out depends on the laws of the land. Point being faith is still individual, laws defined by all people, to obey or fight against them that effect us living in the world we are in, not the world yet to come.

Dear Heavenly Father, the law of freedom a gift of your grace, and yet also a gift man understands not, because you still judge our intention of whether we our actions are without sin or with sin. To believe in you and not obey you is sin, yet our sin is covered by Christ death on the cross. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 4:1-8 KJV
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
