God's Blessings In The Early Church: Lesson 13 5/14/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisActs 5:13-16 KJV
13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.
14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
Blessings of the early church do they exist today. I heard of multiple healings with evanglist though personally I never witness a crowd of people receiving healing at one time. What is my point, there are many healings. Every church needs to keep a recorded of healing or miracles in their individual church. How do you know it a healing or a true miracle. Simply healing is more then just miraclous at times, it sometimes a journey, and sometime a testimony of how God worked miraclous, through doctors, or others to complete a task prayed for. There needs to be documentation of before the miracle to present condition of that miracle if possible. However testimony of individual should be enough if they are trustworthy. Miracles and time table, you can not say five hundred dollars show up the minute a bill would be late that money was paid for such a bill, without evidence, without deliverance because both would be tangible proof and a joy. If someone asked for evidence could you provide it. After twenty or so years same testimony you might not still hold the evidence but first happened there should be proof of need and deliverance.
Testimony without evidence is not tangible or presentable, no the testimony of faith is usually not tangible, because the testimony I believe in Jesus and he saved my soul, is yet to be proven with his return, no signs follow the believer, but may not be tangible. However miracles, deliverance of certain kinds are tangible. A man that his leg grew back, there should be evidence. However if your in a country and a place of poverty technology may not be available for that quick camera moment that the world of technology is use too. Would you have snapped a before pic if you known it was a person's day of deliverance. I heard a pastor talk of going over seas, and a beggar in the street had his leg bent up at the knee inside his pants to look as if he was missing a leg. When the minister moved away, the man got up and walked. Do you get it. We must be aware that people we do not know maybe the best cons around, and those who truly healed will only be known to family members and friends that know them. Doctors and ministers are often the ones to know of ailments and deliverance before others because of evidence of technology.
We see people in this scripture healed in the city streets for Peter's shadow to pass over these people. They wanted healing and God delivered by his power healing. Was it physical or spiritual? I think here it was both, because men and women were added daily. Something was happening that had not happened before even in Biblical history. Transformation was happening. Change under the new covenant by the blood of Christ Jesus, with the laws of the Holy Spirit written on the heart of each believer. Everyone was being healed for a testimony of this time period of announcement of this new covenant.
Where is this revival taking place, whose streets, in Jerusalem in the city of David. The power and rule of God is there, though Rome and Jewish religious leaders would deny this evidence for a time. I watched my husband trip and fall on his knees yesterday. It was almost slow motion, one he is well balanced usually, great in snow, better then snow tires, despite his chronic pain. As the first knee hit the floor, I sat and worried how hard it hit, and as the second knee smacked the floor it hit fairly hard, wondering if he broken one or both his legs. Do not worry he was fine, beyond the normal trouble of old age of getting off the floor he got up. I am sure there is a point here. Eventually all the evidence of healing reach the Roman years til even their leaders accept Christ as Lord and Savior. In the mean time there was adversary of Jewish and Roman leaders. Nothing unusual but the great revivals of our day say people are being healed, people are being delivered as in the days of the early church, and the world mocks this without seeing evidence or proof of it. The church is quiet, nothing happening, so some people try to demonstrate God's power without having one inch of God in their life. Fakery happens, because it seems the time period in which we live is a time of rest and not celebration of power and healing. That is okay, some areas revival breaks forth, and God's power still heals and delivers, especially when humanly nothing can be done, it has to happen by the power of God. Time of Ruth seems like a time of rest, but something big is happening the great great grandmother of King David is coming to live in Israel by the way of the former mother inlaw Naomi, Ruth only kin by marriage, spouse and connection to Naomi gone, but love keep them together to care for each other and the bloodline to King David was perserved.
Time of rest and not revival is only a testimony of God's grace in the world, when things are in chaos, I guarantee a revival is happening somewhere in the world. Devil throwing as many stones as he can and if he can take a whip and beat you he going too. Devil does not like it when God's people are happy, content and joyful at the work God is doing in their life. Obed birth did not stop war from coming to Israel. Did not Obed Son Jessie have a son name King David who slayed Goliathe and brought peace to the kingdom of Israel despite David's own sin that caused his kingdom to be almost destroyed. You let one action of sin destroy what you do then you are in trouble. If my husband allowed his fall to the floor to stop him from standing up, he still be on the floor. No, if something is in our path something that causes us to fall will be the fall of our own testimony, but not the end of it. Why because we stand up after we fall and begin once more in faith to do the things pleasing to God and honoring him. One backslide does not make those knees and legs any stabler dealing with temptation, but it nice to know when the knees hit, that we are able to stand up once more, though I sure my husband thought he broke both of them. I thought so too. What did he trip over a fan in the floor, and not sure if it was the cord or the fan itself. Tico our dog felt guilty about the whole thing and thought he done it, and pouted enough that hubby had to console the dog.
The point being God's revival at the time of Goliathe ended with sin of David that almost ripped the kingdom out of his hands. The early church revivals still exist both often like a natural spring spring forth with a flood. When it floods we see disaster, but we also see what bubbling up from the winter thaw, life flowing hope.
These time of the early church is not daily in some areas and then Christ seems to overflow if nothing more into the life of the future church that must arise in faith from generation to generation. If you not living in days like Peter and John, don't fret, God's not left you alone or no longer availabe, but he giving moment of rest, to prepare you for the need of a warrior of faith, not just a slayer of giants. If you faith is at a time of peace be thankful for it and when it revival it is a time of spiritual war in the life of those outside the church needing a light in a darken world.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the early church revival that sometimes missing in our world today in some areas, remind us of those times of rest, that the sheep are lying down and resting, while still in care of their Heavenly Father. Let us not forget that Jesus blood covers our sin, covers us that are at peace or at a time of rest. Bring revival prepare our hearts so others can receive your word about Jesus, who came and died for them. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Joel 2:27-32 KJV
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
1 Peter 5:10 KJV
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
