The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 29
3/29/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 14:7-24 KJV
7 And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,
8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Genocide happens in many nations, but it the silent genocide of the handicap, poor, lame and blind, that is silent in a nation or state you need to ask, did you really see or hear me say that. It happens and most would like to say no way, but it can. Look at Cultist Jim Jones, who did followed him to Ghana, the disabled and the poor in search of a new place to live, only to drink cynide to their death, because of those that wanted freedom and not to be encaged by a man with mental illness. Hilter lead one of the biggest genocides in the world, and yet few realize they killed the weak and worked the strong to the bone. Disability is not necessarily enability but it can be. Does our nation, and nation around the world love even the disabled. It would depend on who you talked too. The Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island says to bring your poor and disabled to America. Yet it does not tell you they will still have to work, meaning they need a green card and not to live off the fruit of Americans. What about Americans living off the fruit of other Americans. No one minds giving someone a helping hand it the continual hand out that for some is a problem, unless they have worked through retirement age. The word is they do not want free loaders in the USA or other nations, that the common thought of society, but yet there are plenty of free loaders right. There is a difference in handicap not being able to hold down a job and a free loader. Yet even the free loader will work to eat. How he works might not be nine to five, or five to 1 or 7 to 3. What is my point. When the Pilgrims came to American soil they either worked or they did not eat. They did something to eat. Some found jobs no doubt tending to children, feeding their families or a single men/women that were able to do more then their fair share of the labor in building their new society. In fact that goes on today around the world. If someone cares about another they provide work or take care of individual. It can be a life time commitment or a short time commitment of an individual. Meaning it like when you take a pet in, they are only able to return love, some people that are taken in are only able to give love back, they can not even cook for themselves or work a job because of their mental status. Yet God sees them more then animal but a living soul. A person worthy of his kingdom, because those who were to busy took their ability and decided they had no time for God. What they bought, who they married and so forth was to important to praise God or acknowledge his call.

Why did God value those that would not come to his bidding less important then those that came ragged and worn. Will think if you God, you can heal them, make them into a new creation, a child of God that will worship him, and he will make the poor rich. How rich, rich in the things that are important to God like the fruit of his Spirit, love, faith, joy, peace, hope and so forth. At God's table is a meal of his word, meat, bread and wine for the soul.

Was Jesus teaching Genocide hear in this passage or the fact that he ask those able to come and they refused so he reached out to those in society that no one seem to care about. Those people unworthy to set at a king's table. Yet they were eating at a king's table. No but there some people that would read it this way and corrupt the message of Christ. Jesus took those lame, and those that were blind and healed them. The poor came listening in the open field and desert. Did they see hope, the rich ridiculed and those may low. Or did they hear the Gospel message for the first time, because they had no money for the treasury in the Temple. Ouch that had to hurt the religious leaders some, but it is true. Did these people find hope. They found a Savior who gave them hope for a better tomorrow, and a better afterlife. Don't think for a moment, the lame that were heal did not suffer at the inability to get off a mat, or the blind did not loose hope not being able to walk from town to town, but had to wait for someone to lead them. Yet no doubt many could cook, tend to basic necessities of life, yet they did not have money, maybe camped on a creek bank and fished for their supper. Yet needless to say they learn to survive by the care of their families and friends.

Here was Jesus, who was giving them hope. With healing they could go to work. With being able to see they were given the ability to go to work, and do things everyone else could do. Remember the ten lepers only one came back and worshipped Jesus. How come it is often those in need of Christ, that know the hope of Christ, because salvation comes to those who care, and those who wait for healing. Some see disability as people with ability and others see them as leftover garabage to be tossed out. There is a minister online that tells his story and he has no arms and no legs. I can not remember his name. However what was impressive he had the ability to speak, and to move and to breath all on his own. He needed no one's assistance to work, to do, to care for his needs. He did more then some with two good arms and legs that worked everyday. He put the rest of us to shame. His own journey was of learn to accept himself as God seen him. If we can see how God sees us, not as people of inability but people with potential to do great things, our value just increased in society, though it might not be seen by others.

If we give hands up on those less fortunate, we fail to see the potential God intend for their life. If we give up on those less fortunate, they may have the key to someone's salvation and you lost it. It may help with a problem or situation you can resolve on your own. They may just have the anedote or solution to a problem of society because they are watchers of society.

God has no time for those who have no time for him. Do we see that five oxen trampled a man left him wound in the road, only to now need God, or a wife decided the man she married was evil and divorced him. What about the man that bought a piece of ground only to fall into a sink hole and needs to be pulled out of it. Do they need God now? Do they need friends? Do they need hope? Do they need God to intervene?

The first part of the scripture talks about someone invited to wedding feast with several rooms, Each room had level of importance of people. If you got moved to the chief room, you were more nobel then those there. One might have to leave the best room because there was no room because it was meant for another person. It is the same if you were found to not be wanted in the chief room, then you be put in a lower ranking room to your embarrassement. Common sense is to sit in the lowest seat in the house, in hopes to be moved by the best man to a more important position. John and James in scripture we read about in Mark and one other book they wanted the chief position to sit on the right and on the left of Jesus in his kingdom. Only for them to find out to be in chief position one had to be a servant of all. The position was not his to give, nor in this pasage would he give to those who thought that position was theirs.

I got two dogs and one like to come running when you call the other, the other more patient about waiting his turn. His position as a servant to the other dog very clear, but the other dog not clear just gave him a better place to sit beside his owner. It is that way in the world. I be honest I hate long lines, but I can wait, I am more concerned about why I waiting then the actual waiting most of the time. There is a point go in a pizza place, you wait for your order you have paid on. The first to get their order though they be behind you in the one that called it in. The second person to get his pizza before you is the one that takes the ready made pizza and not the speciality pizza you order when you went in. It like hospitals the first and second person to come in is taken in that order unless an emergency comes in. It not that you are not emergency you are still standing and moving about, this person is not. The more serious the case the more rank it has, against a common virus or injury. Yet all will be seen in the order they arrive unless an emergency arrives. Two days later in the ER you wonder why you sitting, because your to sick to be seen by your doctor, and the line is just that long.

Does God put important people first or last, I think God has the ability to hear and meet all our needs at once. It not the prayer line, it where we are and if we willing to wait on God. God's timing for our healing, God's timing for our inability to be our ability. Where are you with hope, Don't play God and believe you are valued more then another, God choose all of us. Not all people come when God calls to his table of grace. Why we are to busy for it, think we know best, or just can not see value in God's grace.

Where are you this morning willing to follow the hope of faith, to wait on God and his timing, knowing you are promised another day until God's timing for your miracle, for your hope to come to pass. Think you wait on God, you have position, you will be doing his will, and your salvation already given upon belief in Jesus. Then your waiting and doing what you know to do til he comes. Doing the best you can with what God has given you until either he increases, heals or delivers you. What God does in your life, we may wait, but God is going to bless each and everyone that seeks and waits for him.

Dear Heavenly Father, open the eyes of the blind that every soul is important to God. We do not know the day God will transform someone in our world to a vessel of honor and not dishonor. Let us not play God because they may hold the key to deliverance for a crisis in this world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 10:35-45 KJV
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
