Called To Be Saints 6/23/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 Corinthians 1:1-10 KJV
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
To be called a saint to be called to be morally blameless, living a purified religious life. How many of us today would be called morally blameless, not to many people in our world fit this criteria, because it not something talked about as far as faithfulness to God. To be morally blameless, to live with moral code of conduct with dating, and marriage. To live in perfect unity of waiting til the day of marriage for sexual relations, or soon after. To take time to get to know another person, in good old fashion conduct of no hands, keep your hands to yourself, except to maybe hold hands or hook arms walking down the street. Nothing beyond those limitation while dating. Then no sexual immorality within marriage, meaning not dating or sleeping with another man or woman, other then your spouse in a sexual way. Then religious conduct to live in a segregate life style to be holy as Christ is holy. Christ though he lived free of sin, he also talked, converse, and dealt with questions of the sinful world. He could eat a meal, attend a wedding feast, but he did not participate in group sex, sexual immorality of any kind, or did anything that would make him impure during his ministry and through out is earthly life.
The other day I seen this thing on the news about transgenders in sports. I thought oh no another clash of the gay and lesbian lifestyle people. As a Christian I get as irritated as the next that in disagreement with this life style as the next. However what is social ettiquette. How should it be handle scripturally as far as society scripturally and based on federal and state laws of equality. Truth Governor Jim Justice West Virginia state is handling it with kid gloves, because he must interpret both state and federal laws. One way of looking at the problem is to say those that are males or females by sexuality will be performing sports by their sexuality and not their gender identy. Meaning if you think you a woman and you really physically still a male you be playing sports with males and so forth females with females. Now where does this put sports, it saying that in truth there no difference with identy and physical strength of known male that consider himself female. So because of this physical identy is what you will be. Other solution is not allow anyone that transgender to participate in sports because of other legal issue of dressing rooms and so forth.
Jesus was walking the earth what would he do? Someone once asked Jesus about Eunuchs and he only had a subtle response of more or less leave it alone kind of attitude. Some Eunuchs were so by choice and others not, but by slavery. The new issue an old issue, or just one that most states are looking into concern their state laws and federal laws of how best to deal with it. If we go to Acts 8 we see Apostle Philip, who witness after Jesus ascended into heaven to a Eunuch that was reading scripture in Isaiah and got saved. We do not see God knocking him in the head with iron rod, but testifying about who he is. We do not know the full outcome of the transformation with the Eunuch, but we know he got saved because of scripture.
What all this really boils down to, is where is what the Bible calls sexual sin because it not the orignal design by God, what is man going to do about the situation he is creating or allowing to be created as well. Then my question is why does anyone's sex have to do with sports or education, you there to learn and to play, not drop pants. In other words it time the world says I dealing with this problem in equality, only because we created the problem with original sin. Jesus leaves it alone, it seemed to have nothing to do with whether a transgender could be a saint. I want to bring this out, because their are people that get saved that are not perfect or holy in certain areas of their life, but they are a work in progress.
There many things in the world that is not consider God's orignal design for mankind. Yet the world deals with it as part of rebellion against God chasing it either out, or saying we won't embrace it but we will tolerate the problem based on what, the acts of homosexually is not suppose to be in the public street any more then what a traditional couple should display publicly.
This is my point, Paul is dealing with a problem in Corinthian seen probably around the temples of idol worship and stone idols where sacrifices are made. Roman culture different then Judeo-Christian culture concerning sexual immorality. Christians we can not judge the world by laws they do not agree with. However God will have his day of judgment. He also will have his day of looking at the blood of the lamb that covering our sin as well, that prevents him from condemning us. Our responsibility to the world is to love them as Christ loved them. Not to worry about who is what, but loving them and teaching sound doctrinal truths of faith.
Our focus beyond the law should be do we love, do we demonstrate love despite sin in the world. Do you love murder, do you love a thief, and do you love a rapist? Society locks these people up so they can not do it again and that is love for our fellowman. Legal law sometimes locks up good people who may or may not of sinned by the law but chose to not obey the simplicity of the law. Unless transgender is illegal it here to stay. Unless in my own state of Virgina, concludes that equality is important despite religious conviction, they are guilty of inequality. Ask the Eunuch how he could be saved while being a Eunuch and you find he simply tell you he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized, his sexuality not even mentioned.
What is Paul really dealing with idolatry, and sexual immorality that goes along with it. Purity of faith has to do with living as Christ desires us too in holiness of our faith. In other words the sexual immorality had to do with being outside of marriage or sexual intimacy not within marriage/orgies. Not with couple married having relations. This is taught in Old Testament laws as well as New Testament.
We must ask ourselves if the laws of marriage still sacred to us as individuals to hold to them despite what others may do around us. Are we willing to submit to God's way and not the world. Are we as Christians going to continue to teach sound doctrine despite the world by our freedom of choice to do so. Are we going to coward down to the sinful world we live in and say let it be. The group of believers choosing by individual choice and taking a stand in those beliefs will have more weight with others concerning our personal beliefs, then going on rampage against them. What we will stand firm on in faith is a solid testimony about faith in Jesus. Faith in Jesus is simplely to believe He came to save us from our sin and we receive his atonement for our sin, because he died for our sin and rose again on the third to give us new life through him for eternity. Faith is also a lifestyle choice of saying I going to obey God rather then man. I going to live myself according to God's laws despite what the world publicly does. This was the stand Paul was asking the church to take against known sin that plagued society that always been taught as sin to God.
Do we glorify God in our life style. Do we weigh our decision with the word of God. Truth no one does this perfectly. And not everything we do is going to be in agreement with God's word, but we must allow God to start somewhere in our life to began to allow him to mold us as believers. Paul talks about morality, healthy living because of this. Not to stop someone from converting to faith in Christ Jesus and allowing God to change them. Paul taking what is going on in society that is sin and point it out to the church and telling the church it does not belong in the church or your home. Live up to your calling of being a saint of God. To be united against sin and united to living holy before God and man.
Dear Heavenly Father may you be glorified by the way live even when we fail, because we desire to be more like Christ, to live has you called us to, that we also yield to the call of repentance and change in our life. In Jeus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Acts 8:34-38 KJV
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
1 Corinthians 6:15-20 KJV
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
