Jesus, A Man Of Learning 6/21/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 7:14-18 KJV
14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
If you been reading your Bible for years you know when someone not speaking scripture probably. Now if you just learning you might know when something does seem to match as far as doctrine, or what been taught to you about God. I thank God everyday for being read scripture, for reading it myself and having heard it. I do not always correct one speaking untruth of scripture, but allows oneself to know if what one speaks is of the devil, unlearned, or not educated in the things of God. Sometimes there are areas a person needs help on. We can not all know every inch of the Bible, though often scholars would like to think they know scripture that well. However if you love your Bible you understand that infallible words of God are contained in the stories of humanity. The warnings and promises come with a sharpness of truth of obedience or consequences of non obedience to God. The Bible story would of ended if Noah had not obeyed God, Abraham never seen the promise and hope of his people if he had disobeyed God. Moses learned real quick about God's judgment and God's righteousness, when dealing with Pharaoh. The history and the laws of God speak loudly in the Temple to all the people. Jesus taught the scriptures written at that time from scrolls. Rocks would of been used before Egypt, who would of introduced parchment paper. Yet what was recorded on scrolls were God laws and how they effect his people through out Jewish history.
Jesus taught the laws of God the Jews wonder how Jesus knew the letters used to read the different scriptures. Did not realize who he was? Did they not know he was from a priestly family. Did they not know he also had royal blood. Some of the most educated people were the royals and the priesthood. The knowledge of scripture would of been handed down from generation to generation. Yet the Jews knew not who Jesus was, but that he spoke the scriptures and spoke about God to the glory of God. They would not of known he spoke of himself as the word of God in the flesh. Instead he went with the information of who does he glorify himself or God. In reality he was glorifying both God the Father and his Son when glorifying the word of God.
Now as we understand he was glorifying God and his word, and he testified of it, it should of been no mystery to the Jewish people, however perhaps with their knowledge of scripture it spoke to their heart about what Christ said, even if the religious leaders rejected him on more then one occasion. They would reject him not because of the word spoken, but because the people received Christ teaching better then their own. Jealousy was within the religious leaders over Jesus power to teach and preach the word of God. The power struggle over those in the church world of who knows scriptures verse those still learning, to those that want to tear a church apart with the word, not sending revival but sending chaos. More churches have split because of those itching hears wanting to believe a lie instead of the truth of the word God. My challenge to everyone hearing discourse take both sides weigh it against scripture. Then decide if you going to follow Jesus his word or man. Who speaking by the Holy Spirit in truth and love and who only ready to tear the place apart? The struggle of the church remains clear, sometimes to build new churches and expand and other times to divide away the sin of the church, being turned over to Satan or the individual turned over to the Satan. By in large in truth God's word will remain. Paul wrote the Corinthian church and spoke of times of casting people out because of false doctrine. Some doctrine only brings discord and other false doctrine is only to cause mayhem and chaos. However Jesus was not there to bring discourse but truth to the people and the people marveled at not only his doctrine but his education, wondering how he could of even learned to read letters.
That my friend is because they knew not who Jesus was, but simply willing to look for why the religious leaders hated him so. Jews were only questioning who he was, but the leaders knew through prophecy who he was suppose to be, and yet denied the truth. God hardened the hearts of the religious leaders and it was prophetic that he would, and God also open some of their hearts to be able to believe. Some would receive Christ teachings.
Dear Heavenly Father, you are the great I am, you sent your Son to a world that could not even grasp Christ education, or his ability to read. Yet you sent your family into a royal, religious family to learn as a child into man. He grew knowing who he was as a Son of God. Spoke by your Spirit the word of God and read by understanding as educated man. Thank you for sending a Savior that understood more then his own people about who you were as a loving Father. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Titus 2:1-15 KJV
1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Titus 3:1-11 KJV
1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
1 Corinthians 5:1-13 KJV
1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
