Uncovered To See God's Glory 6/15/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisExodus 33:12-23 KJV
12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
As many times as we gone over certain passages or spoken of them elsewhere I can not help but thank God when he makes us aware of something else in a passage of scripture. There is no way to assorb all of that God has to say in the whole passage except by God's Spirit. Yet in this passage Israel had sinned and bow to the golden calf only for Moses to come down and order the killing of anyone bowing to the idol. And so quite a few were killed that day. The next chapter Moses in the tabernacle and God covers the tabernacle with his presents. He makes it clear that he show mercy to who he will show mercy. Moses unsure even with God's presence filling the temple whether or not God would go with him. Something changes here God said no one could see his face and live. The sin of the people caused a change in their world, they would no longer physically dine with God as they did at Mount Sinai. New law invoked because of sin, however Bible does not say that exactly but that the only reason that Moses can no longer see the face of God. To see his holiness had not kept Israel in check, instead they sinned. This would of wounded Moses. Yet God going to show Moses his glory.
Our sin is for our wounding, but not to keep us being outcast from God. God would place Moses in a crevice of a rock and cover him with his hand. Is that not what God does for us as believers, he places us on the solid rock, Christ Jesus, his word. And then he removes his hand to show us his glory. Not the glory before us to come, but the glory that is like a bridal training following our Lord. Lord also tells Moses he knows him by name. We know Christ words not to rejoice over the miracles but that our name is written down down in the book of life. Christ knows are name. Moses need the evidence to see God's glory as it past by. Evidence, his hand placed him in a clift, but then passed by and he could only see what was behind God.
Noah removed the covering off the ark he seen redemption when he seen dry land. The land was parched it was not wet with all the rain. It was enough to know the Lord had sent the rain and the flood was over. Moses was still living in his sin, and could not see the dry ground of God's glory had worked in the life of the people. Moses was tormented by the guilt of sin, though he was covered by the sacrifices and blood covering of the lamb that was slain for the transgression of Israel. He still dwelt on the sin. He thought the sin would cause God to depart from the children of Israel and even him. Yet God seen that some of the people bowed to him and not the idol. Not all were killed. Only those that did not worship him.
We live and breath yet do we grasp God's glory in even our ability to breath, to see the glory of the work he does in our life. Our sin is our wounding as we stand in faith on the rock he provides for us that found in Christ, and he goes by us approving our acknowledgement of his grace through Christ and no longer covering us. After all we do not understand our turning away for sin, enables us first to enter into right relationship with God, but also that when we believe we will see greater acts that help to increase our faith. We see the miracle working in our life and doors wide open to following God with his head always pressing forward. He going before us. Moses need sweet assurance from God though he sin he was still redeemed. God was not uncasting him, but covering his sin because he stood on faith the word of God.
Dear Heavenly Father place us in the clift, and cover us with your salvation, so when you pass by, your glory of the works you are doing in our life can be seen. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
