Declaration Of Glorifying God's Spirit

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 22:1-31 KJV
1 To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. 31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

David declares he is in trouble to God and wants to know why he going through this particular struggle. He not demanding as Job, but speaking out to God about his trouble, the reason for it and how to change his trouble. Most believe this Psalm in the Christian world to be prophetic to Christ. However there is a key verse here that declares something else, that David recognized his elders, and men of faith had gone through similiar events in their life and God had seen them through. Is it prophetic as far as foretelling, the answer is not exactly. If it happened in the past it will probably happen again, somewhere in time. Man is just at that place of grasping the subtle changes only really occur with hindsight and foresight to see the situation.

Perhaps if I could teach one thing, listen, and observe life not only as a participant but as observer of things in one's own life. If I could share we all come from our mother's womb, naturally or non naturally, it matters not, but we come forth to breath the life giving breath of air. When we come forth either with assistance in aid to breath or a swat even from the doctor on the butticks to breath, or already scream, replacing that fluid in the lungs with air, we are now with the need of God's direction in our life, whether grasp it at that age or not. We enter the world of sin and death, only to have the choice of eternal life in need of a Savior. David talks about his enemies encompassing him through out his life, and yet the need of God was always in his life. From the time of struggle when at war perhaps, and he on the battle field or hidden from enemies for a moment in time, his thirst great, and the need to have it quench, because it was so dry he complains of his bowels being dried up. His dehydration being great within his body. Most of us have never experience sever dehydration but it does happen in our world. Perhaps on that battle field not being able to get water, or not able to take care of his personal needs because what happening around him is greater. Now a soldier is going to understand this, but us regular folks might not.

What is my point the pain, the discomfort of war makes David feel forsaken though in truth he knows he not. Christ is felt forsaken on the cross. The minister might relate this Psalms to Christ as a soldier today might related it to his suffering while at war as David did.

It does not matter what book you read, you will relate to a character at some point in your journey in life. What does someone else's story do but give hope to the reader or the listener. If you not a book reader you might relate to movies or tapes being read to you. However it can not do what scripture does, and scripture glorifies God, the Spirit and Creator of all things. I not saying another book can not glorify or testify of God, I saying what it may not do, depending on the book not scripture, it might not glorify God only man or the world.

What is the evidence of God's Spirit working and comforting us in our life. I was taking a look at a tv minister who had a bit of trouble this weekend with strippers in his church. I not one to listen to many minister on tv. However it was in the headlines on yahoo. And I got curious like others will too. Their plight was they could do whatever they wanted with their body. Now I do not know if the posting of Joel Osteen sermon was current or it be posted next week. Sometimes ministeries run a week behind. However the sermon for Sunday fit his plight his difficulty and it came from Nehemiah. His focus not to worry about one's reputation, that God would defend you, if you keep focus on what you are suppose to do. Gossip will come and go. These woman were focusing on what they thought they were allowed to do, not what they should do. However it came just after Joel Osteen repetitive worship preparation concerning his Bible an that we are to follow and do what God's word says. Yes it a nice repetitive phrase I do not have memorized.

I went on with listening, not one I generally listen too, but I was listening, and what God was speaking by his Spirit is true, if we do what we suppose to do sooner or later the world will see that, and not all the gossip. It only reminded me how often we need to examine ourselves for that type of gossip. As soldiers of the cross is our mouth our trouble, or is action justify us, when no gossip is repeated then is it a fact.

What does this have to do with this lesson, it not the action of gossip, or the protection of those that are in error of their sin. It that gossip of untruth or truth. It not about Joel obeying God on a difficult Sunday morning for Joel Osteen. The fact he may of cut the incident from his cameras when others did not. The point being he went on with his sermon after being will seasoned and oiled minister, where a younger minister might of lost his since of ability to minister.

Events in our world can destroy or it can be silenced. David is in prayer, in meditation to God maybe right in the middle of the battle field. Yet he finds a way to glorify God right in the thick of the storm. Are we soldiers of the cross to know God's Spirit rest in those past present and future believers. That what we go through can either be a testimony of the right way or the wrong way. Job glorification of God yesterday was seen lacking as he demanded from God for a reason he was going through it, and David over in chapter 22 is saying I see the elders have suffered too. David is wanting to know if he did something to deserve his situation, or whether it was something else going on in the world around him. No doubt if at war when David going through this, the reason simple it is the life of war. Life of being a soldier for God's people, to be King of God's people.

Now are you ready to say humbug, this is just relating to past events. That is what some type of prophecy is, just relating comforting the people of yeah, others have felt that way too. Yet the Christian author relates it to the first soldier of cross of the laws of corruption that caused Christ to go to his death and resurrection. As if David was showing a glimpse our Savior plight.

Can one go beyond the yesteryears to glorify God today the way David glorified God with rememberance of the past and the victory he knew he have obeying and believing in God and God's faithfulness to man. What does the Holy Spirit declare to man, but the things to come, the things of the past and the things of the present. Whether as believers we have the Bible memorized, God still uses it to declare who he is. Yet he also continue to speak these things in our life today, even in our personal struggles at times. Who glorifies God but God's Spirit and his Word, both orally and readable. We do not need the scripture for God's Spirit to be heard in our heart, we only have to believe. However the scripture should back up the Spirit is saying without scripture being read. Be careful what ministers you listen, hear, see and read about. It the words spoken are they scripture, declaration of God's Spirit, even if it in today's language of our world. Even the devil speaks scripture in not always the language of scripture. What the difference, the action coming from the person of faith, yet all sin fall short of the glory of God, can we check ourselves and our motives, because often motives are misleading. Do we glorify God for the wonderful works he done in our life. Do we recognize his involvement in our life. Do we seek God in our struggle, in our victories. Do we realize we well bow to the name of Jesus, will bow to our God? Bow to his word/Christ our king? Christ being the prophetic word in the flesh. The prophetic word in our life coming to be is God can not be controlled by man, beware, man wants to prophecy and control your life so you bow to him. Make sure you bow to the King of kings and Lord of Lords, do it now because on the day of the end of the world you will do it then.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you in your presence, trying my hardest to obey you. Not always without sinning, but striving in life to obey, to seek the reason for struggle knowing others have gone before me in battle, feeling sometimes even forsaken, but you are always there. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Philippians 2:10-18 KJV
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
