Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 John 4:1-11 KJV
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Greater is he that is in you, then he that is the world. The spirit of the antichrist is the spirit of the world. It is opposition to God. That is sometimes fully hard to grasp especially if you are around many people that are good and caring. Yet the world is often in opposition to the love of God in regards to unconditional love. It hard to love when the world hates. It hard sometimes to do the right thing when in opposition, when it is easier not to stand up and speak out. What is love? Love is compassion for others despite what they do. That was Christ love in the way he came, but also in the way he died. If the love of Christ that forgave even on the cross is in you, what is your ability to forgive?
You ability to forgive is based on your ability to yield to the Spirit of God and not to human reaction that is by the flesh we live in. If someone hits you, it is possible for one not to hit back, but the human reaction is to strike back. The human reaction of eye for eye and a tooth for a tooth is a very normal reaction, but Christ did not retailate on the cross he said Father forgive them in the story of the cross in Luke. He prayed for those who persecuted him. Yet can we do the same. In our humanity maybe not, even if our heart says I forgive our reaction might not be in accordance to God love if we are not yielding to the Spirit of God. In other words not in attitude of forgiveness to we react to others with forgiveness.
Several things I learn over the years is God is greater in you and will give you the power to overcome, but you have to be willing to allow God love to do this in you life as far as enabling you. How do you allow God's power of love to infiltrate your heart when you really want to be human and hate or seek revenge?
It simpler then you think, we think that one we own the power, we do not. I sorry, there is always root of problem linger even sometimes with forgiveness. That root has to be dug out so the oil of God can heal the entire problem. It it can take time, even if you cut the tree that grew the root with the first act of forgiveness called love, despite the action of another, you still treat that person with respect.
What we need to do is examine our own action of whether it be the same type of love as Christ. Christ even called the Pharisees vipers, yet he still demonstrated love in his responses of what the real problem was, because the very thing that was causing their problem maybe be causing our own problem in our faith. Faith can be ritualism and not true faith. It can be legalism and not true faith. Faith being about spiritual rituals and not the meaning. The legalism in regard to religious conduct, but is deep rooted and is not true nature of a believer's heart should be. One allow God to search your heart and if their be any evil ways allow God to reprove and correct that place in one's heart. It allowing God to change those areas your weak in. It is that weakness all believers have because of human flesh. Yet God's love dictates we live and walk in his love, that same love we see on the cross when Christ died for us.
How hard is it to love in a storm, ask Jesus, because he did not step off the cross and seek revenge but suffered in the way of man, until his last dying breath. Then God proved his love would not remain in the grave but his love had everlasting life as he arose from the grave. Can we allow God to search our hearts to find out if their is any evil in our action or thoughts concerning problems in our life? We all struggle and we all stand corrected by God as a believer. We have to see the otherside of the picture to know whether we are at fault, or if one is guilty of sin, that provoke another's anger. Let examine ourselves and allow God to do the healing with his love. To do the reproving with his love. Because God is greater then I am. He knows exactly what the believers need to hear and even what I need to hear from his Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father, move in us. move in our hearts to cleanse our wicked ways out of our life. Search us and help us to know our true self so we can live in accordance to your will and in mercy of your love. The reason we need you to search us because you greater then we are and you live in our heart, and sin can not reign where you are. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 13:3-9 KJV
3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
Psalm 139:17-24 KJV
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
