07/12/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 24:10-31 KJV
10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.
11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.
12 And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.
13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.
15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.
16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.
18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.
19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.
20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.
21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.
22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;
23 And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?
24 And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.
25 She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.
26 And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.
27 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.
28 And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.
29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.
30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.
31 And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.

Supplication asking God or man for something. One of the hardest things is learning to ask someone to give you something you are in need of. Yet it maybe easier to ask God then man at times. Does God hear and the answer is yes, but he does not always give us what we ask, because it not in his will for our life. Learning to depend on God also means looking at ourselves and examining our ability and his abundant ability to provide what we ask. Abraham had sent his servant to the city of Nahor in hopes of finding ancestors of Abraham So he could take a bride back to his master son Isaac. Yet he finds himself kneeling seeking God outside the city, that God would provide a bride for Isaac with a woman coming first out of the city that very day. Now how was it in accordanc to God's will. God had promised Abraham children as numberous as the stars by the wife of Sarah.

God's promise of children is seen from the words be fruitful and multiply in Genesis 1 and 2. And yet this was also a special promise to Abraham in old age when him and his wife were past child bearing years. Sarah conceived bore a child and called him Isaac which meant laughter. Abraham knew the power of God to fulfill his promise to Abraham and so willing sent his servant in search of a wife for his son. Knowing God would provide of Isaac a bride.

Faith of his master was enough to send the servant to search for a bride but now at the wall, he asking or begging God success with the first woman he meets. As the story goes Rebekkah would return with Abraham servant. Yet first things first he has to locate her, and he does with her coming out to fetch water and giving the servant of Abraham not only water for himself but his camels also. Tending to the needs of a strangers to her.

God is faithful to those that are about his business and his servants business. That supplication the servant was so willing to pray was about to strengthen not only faith in God but his belief in all Abraham had perhaps shared over the years with him about his God. It takes faith to trust in someone word but to trust also in the word someone speaks about God. It takes faith to believe this God would make his job successful. It takes faith to ask God believing it would happen.

Part of confessing our sins to God requires us to believe he will do what he promised by forgiving us our sins. Part of his plan in redeeming us is for us to believe in Jesus/word. Jesus came in the flesh, but the word he spoke with power of his own because of who he was. To all that would believe would become children of God. Who believed he came to fulfil God's promise to his people. When we ask God to save us from our sins we know he will. He will not only purge our sins out of our life, but continue to purge sin out of our life so we can live holy and blameless before him. Not only does God save his people but give them the ability to live a life pleasing to him by the Holy Spirit. It is our duty to strive to live for him, and to allow him to go before us in our life, and to open those doors we need open.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for being a God that we can ask you anything according to your will, knowing you will go before us to receive your blessing, you desire us to have. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 John 5:13-15 KJV
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Ephesians 1:3-11 KJV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
