Adultery 07/02/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisRomans 7:1-6 KJV
1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
This is one question I have had for a long time when weighing truth of the matter, and this is one of my favorite chapters in scripture because it speaks of our humanity both faith and in the flesh. Speaking from what we do not fully realize even with the coming of age. It something we long grasp and yet we are still working under the law not of faith but of man. Culturally a woman was consider not equals. She would blamed in adultery unless rape was proven. Paul was of the Jewish priesthood that was convert by Christ himself appearing to him in a brilliant light on the road to Damacus. Paul is writting the Roman church, and someone probably asked something about the law being broken with faith in Jesus. If the law says in the Old Testament not to worship any other God but the Lord, are we worshipping another God if worshipping Jesus. As the law died if we break the first commandment of worship God and only him. This is why I work hard to show Christ in his humanity was and is the Son of God and fully God. Why the appearance of God in the flesh before Christ, like in the time of Moses is important to understand. Is the law of God dead, the answer is no. The word/Jesus should bring forth fruit unto who(God).
When a Christian is praying Heavenly Father, they either been taught to do so, or they have learned to pray to God the Father, and not to his word but by his word. If we can mesh two ideas together that Jesus was God in the flesh, but also retained the image of being the word before and after death. The Holy Spirit comes and not Christ in the flesh to the believer in regards to living and indwelling our very being, which never makes us God. Christ Spirit was the Holy Spirit, our Spirit only wines and dines with the Holy Spirit on the full course meal of scripture. What does this mean? It means that we take each part of God and look at the form in which God is in. Realize each part of God is important for man to see our likeness we were created in.
Take a believer that been encouraged in the word of God, they are easily can repeat it the way they heard it by the Spirit. Yet in the flesh it near impossible to give a good redition of what been said unless memorized. Most people are not that good at repeating anything, gossip is full proof of the problem with the error. The word came in the flesh as God Jehovah came in the flesh. God gave us a man after his own heart because it was his word for us to commit adultery with and not another god. Meaning the only adultery God would allow is us to be in love with his word, his Son and his name is Jesus more then him.
Did the law of worship end in the relationship to God the Father? The answer is no, but it appears to have. The Holy Spirit would write the words of God on our heart. This whole passage begins are we breaking the law of faith when we receive Christ. Paul talks about breaking the law, being act of the flesh and mind. The fact where their was no law, did man still break it or only when the law of God was presented?
Jacobs sexual immorality of more then one wife. And all the Old Testament leaders that were sexual immoral, was not immoral with God. The law of coveting another man's wife was not a problem they just married more then one woman, that was single. Defiling the woman would not occur if he married her if she was not another man's wife. Realize woman being property is probably more of a saying, because in reality, the man was protecting the woman that pleased his eye by marrying her and other women too. Did it make it right? The law was one man one woman in the beginning. Other cultures that did not obey God's law would of had more then one wife, and often we see culture now interfering with faith? Only those that considered them subject to the law would of seen their own sin. That where we all die, because we find no one lives up to the law of faith. Law died between God and man. Humanity then went about doing anything he pleased.
What does God want from his children, to be children that admits that they do not always obey God, that we are sinners in need of forgiveness. Sinners in need to confess our faults not only to each other but to God. God is just to forgive us. The word point out our transgression and we repent and God shows mercy. Our ways are not God's ways, but he created us in his image, and created us to be like him even down to free will.
Tomorrow as we continue to talk on this subject of free will and walking in obedience to God's Spirit. We have to get the point do we see our own humanity is not as Christlike when we think and act in the way that makes others think we are prefect people, and are not. We called to be perfect, but our humanity is our downfall. Our Spiritual faith calls us to be obedient to God in perfection and walk by his Spirit because this is more then our protection with God, but a life style of choice. Disobedience to God is something we stay away from, because disobedience can cause death. Adultery can causes death if spouse finds out for it breaks a promise that some people are kill over. Coveting often leads to the same reward if acted upon. If adultery is forgiven, then what? Is the forgiver greater, not if the forgiver is human, God love and mercy is greater then all humanity. Adultery to God came when we nailed his Son to the cross. Following the ways of man instead of God.
We have realize we all crucify Jesus with our sin, when we willfully disobey him. We can not disobey God without knowing the law. If you know you covet, when does it become sin when you commit the act of adultery or when you covet. The sin already in your heart, however you did not cause another to sin. If we confess our faults to one another do we cause another to commit that sin, or do we preach against that sin. If we desire to protect people we preach against sin. Never make sin holy, never justify it. It is what it is.
Dear Heavenly Father, you give us the law to show us our sin, and yet we understand not that we will break your law because of our humanity. Lord we ask that as believers you guard our heart and our mind so we sin not against you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: 1 John 1:7-10 KJV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
