Loving God: Lesson 18
2/21/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 6:43-49 KJV
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Well I had Gizzy my husband and my dog about a year now. And as you know ever dog has its favorite person or at least at certain times. She came from a shelter and what I learned is shelter animals sometimes it takes them a little time to adjust to their new owners schedule. Gizzy not only had us learn her schedule, but insist that everyone gets at least a dozen hugs a day or a good licking. It matters not if you are a cat or human. The kitten has the same persuasion, however Mongo our other cat though very loved and has adjust well for his age, is still under no such persuasion of any kind, beyond the need to be loved at least once a day and stay hidden unless play fighting with the kitten. I still not sure what Mongo is teaching the kitten until the other day when my husband was feeding them and the kitten took a bit out of his ankle on one side while mongo nibbled on his other ankle. Yes there is a point to this. God builds us on love, but what others teach may not feel much like love. In all truth it is not love it it feels to much like hate. Mongo teeth are a reminder of the serpent at Adam's ankles, but also a reminder that it may feel like a sweet nibble to turning into pain. Serpent doesn't want to just taste how high he can make you jump, he wants to make you jump because of the wound he wants to inflicts. Devil wants you to do one more thing when you kick a wooden chair or couch by mistake, he wants you to yell at the top of your lungs or under your breath. This not forget what did you say when you stubb that toe? Let us not repeat that.

We either building on the foundation that the devil likes to lay on fear, false hope and rumors, or we build on the foundation of Christ the rock of our salvation, the word of God that became flesh and dwelt among us. His Spriit of prophesy is still true today. There are those that call Jesus Lord, but are not following Christ but witchcraft, sorcery, mindcontrol, spy technology and so forth. The spy technology can be a lie or it can bare truth that it taken as truth despite the number of lies it finds out.

Now to build one has to dig until they find the foundation stone for the house. That digging to hit rock is old school in reality. Today you dig out and build your own foundation stone and place it so the house or building has a solid rock to build upon. The principal of digging down and finding a foundation stone is more readily seen as the location of solid rock not a foundation stone that can be shaken like made of several cinder blocks. Many build on fake foundation of good leaders, and principals or values of good people, missing the need to dig to find that solid rock of faith and the house of faith.

Now the struck not built on solid rock but on sand will quickly fade away with the right storm comes through. However the structure built on the Solid rock will stand the test of time and storms may come and go but faith remains. True faith is built like the house on the rock foundation, and not the artificial foundation created by man or sand. Jesus is our rock and is the word of God and the tool or instrument of God that is our salvation. Jesus came in the flesh and was and is the word of God, but His word is what brought us eternal life. Not by any act he did, the act"demonstrated his love for us while we were yet sinners Christ died for us"(Romans 5:8 NIV). I was raised on more then one translation of the Bible, but I saying this to point out something those that read more then one scripture translation or version will discover even if one no longer use them certain phrases still seem to stick out. The word "demonstrate is use in the NIV and not KJV If we understand that Christ came as example for us, then we can then understand that he had to come in human flesh though he is and was totally God, because his Spirit was and is God. He had to come in vessel of corruption for us to understand the importance of obeying God. Without his obedience he could never rise again. Jesus had to demonstrate to us to be a hearer of what God said despite the cost, he had to walk the path of faith to teach us how to walk.

Jesus said to those listening, "you call me Lord, but you do not do what I say". To do what God says is to honor him by being obedient to him. We say we love Jesus and we built our house on the solid foundation of faith, but how come we lack in our faith? Our humanity comes out, but our desire is to live by the word and Spirit of faith believing in Jesus and the one God that sent Jesus to be the Savior of the world. Prayer life can be not that great, our walk maybe shallow, or we could be out of tune like old fiddle. The fiddle still a fiddle but just needs the Good Shepherd tender loving care to tune it up and dust it off. See we had to have heard the word to get saved, to know we needed saving, yet did we forget to allow God to continue to cleanse us like a dog licking an owner, kitten/puppy or herself. God does not lay us on a shelf to get dusty, or rusty. We have to want to want Jesus in our life daily despite what else we do. We must desire the things of his word, that enables us to mean the words Lord, when we call him by name.

The other day I stubbed my toe, and I just had talked to a friend about cussing and here I was fixing to let a few words fly when God's Spirit stopped me. And the blessing of faith flowed and not the cursing. God began to bless my mouth. I was like Lord that what I talking about. Our humanity wants to come out even when God wants to bless us in the storm. Sometimes the storm is learning to yield to his word and his ways. To yield to the principal of obedience even in the storm of stubbing ones toe. I think my words were something like "God(aloud) and (slightenly) with "give me a word Lord". The word of faith came with bless, thank you and I remember next time. Action of reaction, to Lord I want to do things your way, and not my way. To be blessed in the storm and not to allow the serpent bite to cause me to jump a mile more. Life is funny, but God's word is real, and his Spirit is real, and if he can help with bit and bridle for just our mouth what can he do in the rest of our life, as we yield in all circumstances of our life. When will we allow God to build faith in us. If He demonstrated his power to hear us, and to warn us, and to help us then the words Lord should be Yes Lord your servant is listening lead me on, help me to stand on the solid rock of truth, righteousness, faith, love and hope. Lord I love you and I desire to obey you. Are we allowing the rock we found deep within the earth to be the foundation stone for Which God builds us our house with.

Dear Heavenly Father, you have a way of working things out in our life and even when I write, that I sometimes wonder about, until it finished, but I thank you and love the examples you give us in life of how your word manifest in each believer, from the washing we need daily, to love we need from you and us to you in praise. Lord lift us up to stand on solid rock that you desire to build a house on for your glory and honor. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 2:1-16 KJV
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
