The Wisdom Of Jesus
12/28/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 2:39-52 KJV
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

One of the many blessing of children is what they teach us and what we learn from them about our world around us. I am often reminded daily from a cousin that a grandmother that her joy comes when driving with her grandkids, or doing little things when caring for her grandchildren. The simplicity of conversation causing the children to say the most profound insight to any situation that come in contact with in a run of a day. Yet we set back and we wonder where did they get this knowledge. I for one when I began to do babysitting as a teen could not believe how smart the younger generation seem to be for their age. I thought who would believe things they think up or create. Then I realize it not that they are getting smarter, it that they do not know the opposite side of that can't be done, that can be thought and their free thinking minds are not controlled by the laws of man's human nature to define their inability or lack of knowledge as we are with school, government and even upbringing. Children are less likely to show lack of understanding if there is no guideline of thought restriction of the do's and don't. It is like working a jigsaw puzzle nd seeing that the piece that does fit still might fit if it was trimmed down, instead of trying to find the proper location of it. Why not, because in reality, puzzles are not meant to be trimmed but that the piece has a proper order to fitting within the puzzle. It is like taking a rubik cube and someone removing the stickers and replacing them not understanding that each square is design to fit a particular location, the color did not change the piece but it will not fit with the sticker being relocated to another square. One has to move each block and get in the right position for the puzzle to be worked. However if someone finds that the stickers can be removed and all 54 stickers removed and replaced will make the rubik cube fixed as if it was worked by a pro. Exception is that sometimes those stickers are not placed back right and the world knows the stickers were pulled off and that pro is not a pro but a conartist, because the short cut did not mean the puzzle was worked correctly defined by the puzzle maker only by the non professsional working the puzzle. Was the puzzle less worked, no because understanding one color was to be on each side had to be understood to put the stickers back in place. The child's mind says short cuts are nice too, they care nothing about profesionalism or there are rules to working the puzzle correctly.

Is there a right way and wrong way to teach scripture. Jesus has a small boy would of taught with the wisdom of his Heavenly Father. Would Mary and Joseph had not taught the law to Jesus as parents. Yet he showed wisdom snd understanding beyond his age to the religious teachers. In fact it astonished them his responses to their questions. Was this just a child without restrictions of thought or principals not formed to conform his thinking? No this child was Jesus growing up into adulthood at age twelve. His understanding as a young man, learning to be adult man. At age twelve he would had his graduation into adulthood. Yet he still would of been a child in his parent's household learning the trade and work of young man. His trip to the Temple would of taught him what he would need to do yearly as adult. He would also learn to travel with family and friends, but on this occassion instead of playing with other family membes going homeward, he was off talking to the religious leaders about scripture and making them wonder about this boy that was wise beyond his years. Parents upset because they had to search for him and found him in the Temple discussing with the elders. Jesus told his earthly parents he was about his Father's business, but they understood not he was speaking about God his father. And Jesus departed with his mother and earthly father willing to be obedient to them.

Jesus was wise about scripture because of who he was, but he was also God's only begotten Son. He was also the earthly son of a carpenter who treated him as his own child despite he was not. Jesus typical for any child growing up, not defined by the laws of man or even history, but defined by freedom of who he is, to know and understand all through the scripture. Jesus because who he was would of understood those laws, and scripture reading more then anyone. His wisdom of how much to share and not to share would of been known to him. It was true though out his ministry. His wisdom was not confined to the laws of man, but the laws of God from heaven alone. He would wow the crowd and religious leaders even through out his ministry. His understanding far greater then even our own. Imagine what was to walk and talk to Jesus as a boy. His mother knew and his mother no doubt hide what Jesus spoke to her about in his heart. Who was the teacher and who was the caregiver. No doubt Jesus grew physically into his body, but he was greater in mind and speech.

Dear Heavenly Father, we can only imagine what a day was like as Jesus was growing up into adulthood and learning what it was to be a man. Help us to understand your wisdom is greater then our own, and is a blessing to read and even study directly from your word and to grow by your Spirit. Help your people to grow in the knowledge and wisdom only you possess. Teach us your ways Lord. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 11:33-36 KJV
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
