Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Isaiah 40:1-5 KJV
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

As I sit in an ER, I wait for the results of test on my hubby in the wee hours of the night. He has to blockage in his leg. i wait knowing God's comfort surrounds us as we wait patiently for results of his last fall. The reality is when it storms it rains. When I speak of comfort of the Lord, I know first hand about the waiting and know answers are not quick. I think of Israel and the storm clouds being lifted from the wrath of God on their nation, as God sends the forerunner to the Messiah crying in the wilderness, "prepare the way for our Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God". This here is prophesy of what will be. It is fullfilled with the story of John the Baptist, as he prepares to baptize Jesus. His bith told in Luke 1. He is said to be the forerunner to Jesus preaching the Kingdom heaven is at hand, baptism, and repentance. John's message was bring comfort and to prepare the people hearts to meet their Messiah, and establish the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

As I continue into the Christmas story we will take a quick look into John the Baptist story of him and his parents. His call to proclaim the Messiah coming. In truth without John Baptist we missing part of the mystery surrounding Mary's confirmation of the conception of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, may we grasp the significance of prophesy foretold before events by many years before the event and the marking of hope to Israel, in Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Malachi 3:1 KJV
1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
