The Promise Of Hope

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Isaiah 6:1-13 KJV
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

God was sending a man who lips are seared by God's serphim(angel) to tell the people what is to come. When Isaiah found himself in the presence of the Lord. God know doubt knew Isaiah heart and knew he would go, so God said who will go and who will I send. Isaiah said he would go send me. His message is about destruction but in the last verse about the Hope of the Holy seed to come. God takes us in unworthiness to share the Gospel not in our worthiness to carry the message of Christ. He takes us in our hour of the need of repentance and brings us to our knees. There is not a true pastor that can not say, he was not brought to the knees by God almighty even in the hour of actual sin sometimes. The hour of being reminded who we serve and the message of hope with the message of destruction already present in the world in which we live. The hour of destruction racing against time to be undestructable and can not be so. Yet God's presense bring us to the hour of our heart truth in us of our belief and faith that says you are God's child despite you destructive ways. That you carry a hope within you that more precious then silver and gold, that must be shared with the world or whoever God sends you too. So compelled by God's presence that one is forced first to humility and humbleness and then to joy of the knowledge of what God gives of the blessed hope to come, for us to day it be Christ return and for Isaiah time period it was the coming of the Messiah.

Isaiah is the most prophetic book concerning the Messiah, though all prophesy speaks of the hope of the Messiah, details are given ore readily in this one book then any other. Almost chapter by chapter there is prophetic word concerning the Messiah even if only one verse. In fact you and I could remain in Isaiah through out Christmas and pick it apart but we will not, unless God wills it. The of absents from the presents of God at the time of destruction to the time of restoration of Israel and the hope coming of Christ coming as the Offspring. God turns away from is people with the knowledge he will restore his people to husher in his chosen redeemer who is the Christ. As we prepare our hearts the abandonment for the sinner with covenant of blood from the altar not cleansing the people of sin, but bringing instead the judgment of their sin upon them, to be pruned, to be cut off and also restored.

A picture of what it meant to be pruned and also absent from God. Israel was going to enter into bondage. In slavery Israel could not even worship God unless they were in captivity together in the same location. If we think of American slave days, with images that are still in our mines of artist that are drawing what captivity looked like, it much like that time of bondage for Israel. Those owned by one owner could congregate together and share the Old Testament scripture they could call to memory, but could not go leave then bondage and worship God. It was not a servanthood it was bondage by a people. Forced into slavery and worse, and yet the image of Daniel and his friends eating the delicacy of the king seem pleasant but in reality they did not have the freedom to roam. They were forced into work that may not been their true ability or occupation, which would hav been their reality. To be shackled in the fields or shackled in the city by merchants using you to carry and load things from their stores. To be enslaved by those who care not what you believed or if you had a God. In Jeremiah you see the hidding of the sacred text or diary and prophecy of the time priod on stones. The prophet gathering those he could in his area to worship. Bring together Israelites of faith that were in exile the best he could. Dislocation of people without a leader like Jeremiah, Ezekiel and some of the others to guide them in their faith, being completely abandon of the knowledge of God's word but the reminder in their mind and caring little about it. To one day be brought back to their land and be taught again the word of God and told of the promise seed coming because they have been restored to Israel, and some only believing in the law and not necessarily God, but others fully believing in God and understanding the promise was coming.

The promise of the Holy Seed coming was something relished in their hearts upon exile and the completion of exile whether believers or unbeliever in the land of exile. God closing his eyes til the destination and appoint time of his people return, the waking of Israel to the knowledge of God and the promise to come, the hope they all longed for. As children of faith we roam the earth going forth in different location on in bondage by our own economic means and the bondage of being in physical separation from God but never spiritual separation from God. Israel bondage was now on a personal level of spiritual faith, exiled by God land, and place of God's promise. God abandoning his people in regards to the fact his people were no longer allowed in a land of hope but a land of destruction and exile.

A tenth of Israel would return bare and naked to the land, and the Holy seed would come. Israel returning from captivity was said to be even naked in their return, whether it was physical nakedness it matter not but it definitely was a spiritual nakedness of the nation of Israel. A spiritual nakedness that only God could cover and restore. A nakedness that brought about about shame, remorse, and embrassement because of who they were suppose to be as God's kids. Can we get the image of being backslide from God and exposure of our nakedness because of our own sin and behavior. The nakedness as God's child we knew better and yet continue in our sin despite our ugliness of our sin. The idea we laid more stripes on Christ back as Christian believers because of our inability to turn from sin that God had deemed in our hearts to be sinful and he turned his children over to their sin, to later be restored and hopefully graffed into the vine of God's kids. God being the vine and we being the branches and Christ being the word and the Spirit being the fruit and life flow in the vine to new growth and productivity. Being graffed by faith not by dead works. Grafted by faith. To know that if our sin in this life separates us in our backslideness we will be separated from God in our eternity, for our hearts were never sold out for God in the first place. I not talking about little temptation, i talking about the temptation taking us to our own demise, never understanding that our love for our sin greater then our love for God.

If you sitting on the bench of being backslide there is hope because God is speaking to your heart about repentance by his Spirit then you not without hope without God, but not without sin. God called his people to be holy. The tenth of the people that would return and then see the promise might of been naked, but they were not without hope of restoration. Heed to God's call when you chased sin. Heed to Christ looking for his lost sheep which would be the backslidder and heed to Christ coming to fetch as you dangle over the clef needing rescue and being returned home because you understand God's way is best.

I was watching a minister preach the other day and he confess he was a preacher kid. I did not see if he confesed he was saved before his rebellion, but he was definitely saved after his rebellion. Meaning we ask Christ as Savior without the knowledge or understanding of the need to follow Christ means, that our feet go astray into the place not of God. And I heard the grossness of the man's sin as he confessed how far his sin had taken him, and I thought whoa as me should I even listen to this man preach, didn't matter I liked the first sermon he preached. Then I rememberd my on back slidding and nakeness and had to ask, did not God forgive me and restored me to the call he had on my life. Isaiah was in his backsliding in his humility and humbleness before God saying send me.

There are those who are straying but they need to know you can be restored despite your filthy white robe that been tarnished. That you can come to the foot of the cross and repent and say Lord here am I, heal me and also use me for your service. I will serve because I know your forgiveness in my life. If you at this place in your life. The story of the prodigal son being restore is only testament that Christ himself taught us that we can be renewed after tasting of spiritual truth of God's word. Do not let Satan steal you away. That root of Christ in you wants restoration for his glory and honor. Just repent as David did of your sin. Repent like all beleivers must from time to time in their life of impurity in their own heart and life.

Pray Father forgive me, I am sinner saved by grace, not always living as I should for you and in my nakedness I come and in my humility and humbleness I come saying forgive me and heal me from my sins, and take me and use me for your glory to help others like me to be saved. Are you need of the bow at the foot of the cross then come so knowing exile is not hte land you belong in, but the land you are in because of your sinfulness. If your backslidden you know how to pray, you know you can be restore, are you willing to ask God to restore and remove what you can not, and destroy the years the canker worm as stolen from you because of your bitterness towards God and even your fellow man because of sin. Do not let Satan rob you of your walk with God. That what Satan wants to do, he not your friend.

If you were rooted in the word of God and in faith in Christ Jesus and strayed the root of faith still within your soul, you need to be graffed into the tree. That root as to be placed on the branch and wrapped and tied on the branch to adhere to it and grow with the the rest of the church(people of faith) not necessarily the building of beleivers but the universal church. I talking about those that can't leave to join a so called group, you are able to be graffed too. Faith is not a building, it in God above and in Christ Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, keep us not in exile of faith, but restore your children that are wandering in exile if their hope can be restored this hour. Help them to seek you and fall on their knees not before others but before your hand oh God. That they will be renewed by your Spirit into the right fellowship with Christ, God the Father and the HOly Spirit. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 51:1-19 KJV
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Romans 11:7-36 KJV
7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
