The Health And Well Being Of The Church
08/31/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

3 John 1:1-8 KJV
1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

John desire for the early church is clear one of prosperity not of wealth but of faith, and wellbeing as far as health. John found joy knowing the children of faith were walking in truth. He had witness of the love/charity of the church and they carried with them onward and outward in their journy, that they were able to travel without taking a thing from gentiles. John consider these people fellowhelpers in the work of truth/Gospel.

There is no greater blessing to see a church thriving in the Lord. A young group of teenagers were singing in a church I visited once. I heard some of there testimony how they got to share Jesus with other teens. I was sixteen, desiring at that time in my life to go into full time Christian work. And to see these young people serving God blessed my heart and soul, so much, that it left impact of the power of God. These young people were desiring more then just all the things teenagers love to do and be a part of, there were young adults desiring to have God a part of their life. I seen kids in my school with that same heart desire as well, and even when I worked at camp. I knew that I was not alone in this journey of faith, that other believers desire to serve God more then theirselves. I only know where a few of these people are today and some are still serving in the church world. Others left and still continue in faith sharing Christ love. Those people are still part of the universal church whether in the church or outside church. We need to recognize they too are people of faith.

To see fellow believers sharing their faith, whether behind a pulpit or out in the world we live in, should bring joy to the soul. Our desire should be health and prosperity for people of faith. People of faith need money, and those working outside the church and share what they earn with the church are blessing God's work. Some are able to care for the needs of a church, or the mission work going on outside the church. Some can manage the work alone, because God designed their call that way, and others will they need all the helping hands they can get. Sometimes with finances, and supplies, while other times they just need volunteers to help in the labor.

Every child of God born through faith in Christ Jesus as a part in the church. Whether in a pew, whether filling in the gaps of the ministry, like door man, workers in the soup kitchen, passing out supplies, but always giving a testimony of the cross of Jesus. Maybe working in the business world sharing faith when the opportunity to share comes. Doors do open, pray and ask God to use you where you are and be not afraid to do what God ask of you.

Dear Heavenly Father let our joy be in the testimony of church worldwide that shares Christ, the church that is alive still by your Spirit and moving in our church's across the world. Help those to carry on, strengthing those in faith, knowing you already said your Son will come once more. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Thessalonians 2:12-13 KJV
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
