Road To, Through And Beyond The Cross: Lesson 7 4/07/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 11:46-57 KJV
46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
Setting the stage for the crucifixion. This story actually takes place before the anointing of Jesus and right after Lazarus was raised from the dead. It points out several things that is important to the story of Christ going to the cross. Without it we would overlook the prophecy prior to Jesus triumphal Entry and the turning of the tables of the money changers as the only reason for Christ going to the cross. God in his wisdom caused a jealousy in Israel like none ever seen before. Jealousy and a desire to keep peace even with the enemy to the point they were willing to betray Jesus without cause or justification, beyond the desire for peace as they had commonly observed it in Jerusalem, since the time of Roman invasion and take over in Jerusalem.
Why should a miracle of God cause fear among religious leaders, why should a miracle not be a blessing. What harm does it do to the government. If every person that needed healing got healed, that be less medicine needed, and more people working which means it boost the economy. When the government is aware of miracles happening they wonder about the truth, the ability of God, and whether it is true. Why would government if they claim to have faith be afraid of miracle worker becoming greater then them. In fact the only time there been issue is when the church ruled in power during what known as the Middle Age and Dark Ages. Is there evil people, of course there is. And even people that try and rule in religious realm that are not believers. What then, beware that religious power by man is not all it is crack up to be. However any power or group of people rising up in power is dangerous to any government that knows not a group. In America it not unlawful, but what is unlawful for them to try and stampede the government. The government welcomes all groups in it to voice opinion. What they do not agree is any one group to be in sole charge.
The religious leaders felt threaten that their way of life would change if Jesus power grew much larger. How can the Son of God's power get any larger when it is from God and the Son of God is Lord. Realize no one fully understood who Jesus was at this point except for some of the disciples. Neither did they understand the power of God would allow them to crucify Jesus just so God could raise him back up. All their anger was for a purpose. Is anger short lived. No some of the religious leaders never understood who Jesus was in fact persecution would begin against the Christians to the Jewish joy. Yet all for a purpose.
God's people are persecuted the enemy gets happy and when the devil is knocked down the devil's people get happy. However God's people called by his name get a harden heart all they can do is see their side of the spectrum and not believe God is drawing the Gentile nation and all nations to him through his Son, named Jesus. We sit and wonder why all the anger between groups, is it jealousy, no it desire for position perhaps. Yet this time it was not position with God but for position with Rome, but attempt of knocking and cutting off this branch of hope. The branch Christ coming straight out of the tree and root of God. Straight from the tree of eternal hope. Christ being the word that springs forth life both in the flesh and in prophesy, valid even today. Can God graffed the Jewish nation in again into the tree of eternal hope. I believe he can when they give up their comfort of Roman and seek God's way alone. Does it mean they can't work with govenment. There always will need to be a government because there will always be unbelievers of faith, that need a law that protects them form religious control. Giving them freedom without freedom, but subject to a law of peace and safety not necessarily from God, to walked marked by the law and not necessarily Christ.
I believe in God and his power in my life is more powerful then my govenment, but I also beieve in the lesser law of peace that keeps unity of people that choose to be different then receiving the law of faith. I wanted to cry yesterday when I seen former President Trumps daughter having to testify for and against her own father. This is something no child should have to, but Jesus said it would happen. That children would turn there own father's and mothers in as well as father's and mother's turning their children in. Until God's children are in their eternal home this is how it will be. Nothing will change it. Can you trust your Creator to the point of what will be will be, and trust that if you stand on trial because you obey God that the law faith still stands and works in your life for eternity. Weigh what you do. If you following God you are following the law of love, faith, and hope. You following the law of loving your neighbor as yourself. Loving God first of all and for most. Is there any hate in those words. No, only love. Be bearers of the love Christ not the hate of the enemy. Allow God to revenge the enemy no matter how angry you get.
The ones that oppress you may be the government confused by the enemy, hold to truth, hold to love, faith and hope. God does revenge for his people. Pray for your enemy. Caiaphas prophesy truth, coming straight from God, but it prophesy was made out of hope where he followed his desire more then God. Even the enemies of God speak truth sometimes for God. Let us not forget Balaam. Let us not forget the star in the east was understood by the Wise Men/Astrologers. That why worship and follow Jesus alone, don't rely on your understanding of even truth by the spoken word might be out of the mouth of a devil.
Dear Heavenly Father, move the mountains of faith, help people see Jesus as being fully who the Gospels declare him to be. That he rose again in victory, because He is the Word and Son of God and fully God in the Godhead bodily. in Jesus precious name, Amen.

13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
