Commitment 2021 by Christina Farris 2/02/2021
This month is the beginning of Lent, starting Ash Wednesday on 17 of February. Lent is a time of cleansing the soul with the reminder of why Christ died for each of us. It is a time of discipline by the act of fasting, either with absence of food, or sacrifice, of time, or something one enjoys doing, to spend time with God and in his word. Time of prayer and meditating on the word of God in worship. Those with busy schedules may find this hard to do, or seeming unimportant. However this can be done at different times of the year to help renew your faith as well as do a check on your actions, and motives in your life.
Valentines Day is also another day to take time to reinforce your commitment and love for your spouse/significant other and/or family. It is a time of love/romance. It a time of togetherness, and reminder of what originally brought you together. A check and balance of the relationships you have with family. Similiar to lent but instead of it being about your relationship to Christ it is your relationship to others.
Last but not least a time of renewing your commitment to self this month, because with renewing your commitment to God and family, you need to reconfirm your commitment to your own goals, your own needs and your own worth, because God and family need you to be your best you. Neither should require your perfection, but you being you, but if you forget your own health and needs, you fail to be the best you for those in your life, including God. Christ needs to be the center of your heart, but with his centerness in your life, comes a discipline to care for others, and to learn to accept there things about your life, God can only change and improve to enable you to be the best person you should be as a believer. It is by doing a spiritual check on your relationship with God first, making sure Christ is your center and anchor in your life, when family and friends around you fail. No one but God can be there for you all the time. The Holy Spirit can not be left out, because as you improve you, it needs to be by His direction in your relationship to others, including strangers. It is his work that enables you to love, have patience, and so forth. Remember when you working on your lent project of sacrfice to remember this relationship with God is not only what he did for you, but how he can help you grow closer to him, how his word effects your life, how Christ death and resurrection restores you daily to faith in God, even if you fail. That Christ being most important to your own center being as ruler and king of your heart.

Race Day 2021 by Christina Farris 2/02/2021
Are you looking for the race 2021, then join the race with Jesus first. The first race you need to join is the race that finishline is to see Jesus. This is the beginning of the racing season. A time to also not only think of all those race cars and trucks out there running for your enjoyment, but to use it as a reminder of your own races in life. The race to get to the store, to work, to school, to see family, to get to where ever you are going. Life is short and the most important race you can run is the one to Jesus. He can be your copilot or the one always racing and getting ahead of you. Psalm 139:7-10 KJV
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.Where can you go from God Spirit and where can you flee. You can not out run God. You can not beat him in a race. He be there before, during and after the race. Racing can be fun, but the race that counts for each of us, is the one we will win if we keep our eyes on Jesus. |
