Let's Go Sleigh Riding
by Christina Farris 1/8/2015

One of the most fun childhood games of the season is sleigh riding. I can remember taking a sleigh and sliding down the hill. Having to take time to cut sleigh track in the snow because the snow was too deep to go through without doing so. My own father taking time to build two sleighs one winter out of scrape wood, never considering putting his daughters on a plastic bag or paste board box. These two sleds were the best made because they were made with love. Rope tied to it to pull it back up the hill, but they were light enough to grab and carry up with one hand. Down the hill my sister and I would go to see who would win.

How those days have come and gone and no longer exist. Yet as I moved along in others areas of the country I learned more about sleigh riding parties. Parties of people gathering together with a fire pit at the top of the hill to keep warm by and a place to warm potatoes, roast marshmellows and drink hot chocolate or warm apple cider. The old timers tales of these things long gone, never knowing what delight of the ears of the listening and wondering why they did not do these things as well.

As seasons have come and gone the ice skating on frozen ponds are almost taboo with global warming. The ice not as thick or as safe as it once was. The snow not covering our hills as it use too. Yet these days still exist in one's mind and heart of sleigh riding parties long gone. As children cheer about missing a school day because of snow that seems to last a week or more, hunting something to use for a sleigh the old paste board or garabage bag will do in a pinch. The laundry basket, a slab of wood, or going to the store for the best modern marvel sleigh in town.

Yet what it is all about is having fun and making memories. Running into the house and having hot cocoa and cookies, feeling the warmth of the heat and coal fires deplete only to find the electric heat. In truth what is winter but a time of much joy, even with the limit of snow, feeling the cold win nipping one's nosse. whether there snow or not, the memories and tales last a life time. Picking up the book and cup of hot cocoa only to remember those days gone by.

The Revolutionary Fight for Freedom
by Christina Farris 1/17/2016

What is the revollutionary fight for freedom. It is a fight the bears no prejudice against race, religion, ethnicity, or sex. It is the freedom given to fight terror of those in opposition to evil. abuse and terrorism. It is the fight all people have to be able to live in peace protecting their civil liberities. Human rights that even NATO agrees with. The civil laws the protect our nation America. Those laws that are not always protected by state and federal government, though we like to think so. It is freedom that Christ fought for while dying on the cross, by saying forgive them for they know not what to do. It is that liberty that freedom and that justice that set us free from wrong and helps us strive to be better people. It is that freedom that Holy Spirit walks and guides us through in the valley of the shadow of death. It is the freedom that sets abuse children free of their oppessors. Takes down bullies in the streets and in the school yards. It is that freedom that people like George Washington and Martin Luther King fought for. It is that freedom that set all people free, that allows people to be true to oneself without opposition.

May you have a good Martin Luther King Day January 18th. from Turtle30cshell.com

Revolution New Year
by Christina Farris 1/01/2016

What is the New year bringing you this year. A time of hope and a time of peace, or more warring against one's self. To war against one's self is to allow yourself to fall into earthly temptation that are harmful for oneself.Are we having a new year resolution or a new year revolution. Is the war of change or a war of peaceful decision making. Is it that fight to go to the gym to work out and loosing ten pounds, or walking to work instead of riding to become healthier. Is it drinking that healthy shake instead of that fattening shake with syrup and ice cream and so forth.

In all truth this resolutionary idea for the New Year is more like a revolution of war on the human body and soul. To promise to read ten verse each day to praying for thirty minutes before bedtime and after to much a chore. Consider again my friend prayer and Bible reading should not be a war. It should be more on the lines of improving one's friendship with the Lord. Is your promise this new year to be more patient in line, or less angry with technicians that help with computers. Yet in all truth no one wants a war. It easier if things come naturally and not by force.

As a child marching in a line meant everyone followed the leader. Yet to be so strict to punish for a minor offense of stepping out of line only should apply to soldiers, for it cost them their lives. For the average human stepping out of line is only obeying our own wants.It takes time to step and to keep inline with the word of God. God's word ever transforming His people into children of light and soldiers of God.

God's grace is revolutionary, but God's grace must be applied from old to new and back again to faith in Jesus. Is my revolution this year to allow Christ to change me or for me to change myself. If you change yourself it only last until the next temptation that overwhelms. If you allow Christ to change you then you will and are an overcomer.

If you want to join the revolution of God you need to put on the armor of God. The salvation of God is through faith in Christ Jesus. Join the revolution today by asking Jesus into your heart and turning from your sin. Allow God to change you, by putting on his armor found in Ephesians 6.

Ephesians 6:10-24
(10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
(11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
(14) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
(15) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
(16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
(17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
(18) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(19) And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
(20) For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
(21) But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
(22) Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
(23) Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
(24) Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. To the Ephesians written from Rome, by Tychicus.
The Revolutionary Fruit Stand
by Christina Farris 1/08/2016

What is the revolutionary fruit stand but a box of our favorite fruits of the Holy Spirit. It is those fruits that are put on a shelf by backsliders and not yet read by those that are just learning about the baptism fire of the Holy Spirit. It that daily walking just to survive in this world of sin and flesh. The world of goodness only gain by obedience to God's Holy Word. Learn a little patience, or a little love in which you really need long suffering for. The hope of faith, the compassion of Christ all must be learn by each and every believer in Christ. Not so easily done or said, but it brings hope to a nation once read.

Opening the door, or saying hello might just seem like proper ediquet. Yet in truth it is that kindness of stranger of helping one carry a load, or butting in with good advice that seems like a bore, might be what saves your life. That passing car warning with lights that there danger ahead, would never thought to help in a traffic war. Yet so far these all seem like common sense and not the work of the Lord.

In truth these things might be taught but it not always first thought. What is the work of the Holy Spirit if all these things are common sense. It is the teaching of God's grace to love unconditionally, to teach with patience, to strive with hope of God in one's life. To not be absent from reminders of God through simple mediatation. Looking up toward heaven to know our Creator and Lord.To know that when no answer seems available, God provision is available. What about the man of faith going toward persecution. Was there any hope of God's deliverance. No it more like Stephen plight in Acts 7. Knowing that even with his death, Stephen had victory, because he was with His Lord. That is faith and hope of the Holy Spirit. None believers can't have that hope until they decide to believer. It something instilled in the heart of each believer of faith, from the very first day of salvation. That peace of hope of a tomorrow with our Lord. Knowing that longer suffering with non believers and persecuters that life continues on.

This All might all seem like fables and folklore, until one experiences first hand for themselves. It going through illness with the peace that passes all understanding. It that hope that stills one's anger in the middle of the storm. It calms one's heart with out mental conditioning of discipline. It is that very act of God when one wants to punch someone or normally might of and that fist does not even clinch to draw back. The craving of alcohol is replaced with milk and apple cider, without a thought of even a sip of wine. It the act of God when nothing else seem probable.

Yes, God can give you that hope and teach you about those fruit of the Spirit on the shelf, but you must be willing to receive each one. To know the truth about what the Spirit says and will do for His glory and honor. That one thing that makes people ask why you did what you did or do what you do, and you respond because of God's grace and power.

Stairway And A Cloud Elevator to Heaven
by Christina Farris 1/16/2016

Marching to Zion, onward and upward we go. marching down the road, going over land and sea where the Spirit of God goes. Our destination assured with each step of faith we take, yet salvation rest in belief in Jesus from the first step one took in faith. Each step not always easy, with pot holes in the road, and some deep ravines one has to trust in a stairway to heaven one can not always see. Yet if God's word says the Jacob's ladder is there we must climb, knowing that final step of faith is ushering us to heaven with the enemy right behind us, not knowing there no laddder rung to catch his feet.

With a rock for pillow in the road of life, camping only to find rest on the road of life. Flashlight of faith shining bright as one continues their journey even through the night. The sounds of hoot owls, and grizzly bears only causes the eerieness of the night air. As the flames of war glow all around, the light of war only makes two sound. Death to the enemy and life to the saint. Wounded soldiers lay in the road, but the battle call is onward here one go. The night leaving as the shadow of death passes, to bring the dawning of a new day.

The ladder of faith continuing on, with angels surrounding as one journeys on. Those angels of mercy that Jacob did see going up and down the stairway toward heaven. Yet each one must be ready to take that first step, Jacob not quite ready to take the first step, saying only if you do this then I will when I return to this place take that first step. Jacob running from God and from his family, yet the hope of one day returning to the stairway that went toward heaven.

Taking the highway more easily seen, is never the journey of faith. The road less travel might be a battle, but it is not without weapons of faith. Weapons that take practice to use, and yet with God's Spirit the aim is always true. Abraham saying I am ready to go to the promise land and Lot seeing only green grass in which to feed his sheep. Yet disciples traveled on roads that seem to only lead to death, their hope rest assured in the land of promise and a cloud elevator that will come down with the Father's request, carrying the Messiah back to us ready to send out his Father's decree. From chariots of fire, ride upward the saints, the angels descending and ascending on ladder rungs of faith.

No not every one ready to take the first step, but those who are, know the wings of eagle's will carry them so far. Yet sooner or later one has to learn to fly upward and onward and upward to city of gold. A place ladden with treasures untold. A place only hope for and dreams only imagined, to give each believer a hope of mansion washed in spring water, polished and spit shine, a place of perfection and eternity that last with streets of gold and lakes of pure glass. Standing at the throne of God knowing our Savior voice. Knowing we made it up the ladder of faith success. No longer needing to take a step back, only onward with Jesus feasting and rest.
