Mini sermon: A Stone
by christina farris 6/02/2012 My name is Christina Farris I am coming live from turtle30cshell’s home. To present the Gospel of Christ to you. Let us begin our sermon title a Stone. What is a stone it is solid object and can be used if it is the right size as part of the building blocks of a house or building. Scripture often speaks of Jesus being the chief cornerstone. The first block that is laid in the foundation of the church. The foundation of a church must be built on God, otherwise the foundation is not going to be solid. A good understanding of scripture is needed for the building blocks to be laid upon. Without a base that is solid when the earth moves the structure will shift and become unstable. A good example of this is a friend of mine has a bench sitting out in his yard. I was sitting in a chair and had gotten up to shift the chair against the stool so that the leaning of the chair would be a little less likely to break. It would have something little more solid behind it. However the stool was not on a solid foundation. The legs had looked as if they were partially buried in the ground but it was not. And as I sat down in the chair and put my back against the back part of the chair the chair began to fall on the uneven ground, knocking the stool over. However my feet were solidly planted on the ground and they kept me from falling to the ground. It is much better to make sure that where you place an outdoor chair is pretty solid, like a sidewalk or a porch, and not on uneven ground because a shifting of the chair can cause it to topple over or to break, which in my case I broke the arm of the chair in the process of trying not to fall. So many people are walking on uneven ground. They are like the shifting of the weather, or the changing of climate. They are like the sea or the ocean with the tossing of the waves around them. People pulled in all directions and all direction having sinking sand around them. One must have a solid foundation or the waves of the sea or the people around them will cause a person to sink. In all truth the world will try their best to knock you down and not encourage you. The world cares little about what happens to a person. Yes the world does many do good deeds, however the world attitude is what can I do to get ahead. Not what can I do to build someone else up. Unless you have a solid foundation you can not and will not stand with the changing tide. It is like the fashion world you get on the wave and you continue to role and change with each tide. Knocking over and getting rid of the last fashion trend as quickly as it comes in. Many of us like the latest trends but never do we always buy what we like to keep within a budget. Better to have a solid base then a base without structure. Our government has a foundation of money, that begins to hold during the hard years, but if so many years go by and we continue to loose from disasters, we to will not stand, unless we find a way to keep that foundation of income. Our nation is solid yes, and wealthy. We are all proud of our wealthy nation. Of a nation of prosperity. Yet when hardship comes will we be as proud of our nation of wealth. No, like so many already do now they grumble and complain. I am not exception to the rule. Leaders hear our cry, they wonder how to fix the problems. The first thing to do is reestablish in the hearts and minds about the basic freedoms of our country. That our country was built on “In God we trust” and not money. Our country was built by who, not the redcoats, but strong leaders with a purpose. Some not of great wealth and other gain wealth with politics, becoming plantation owners as well as business men. Yet all with a firm foundation in God. Though our nation can not force anyone to believe in God the ground work of why our nation is so great must be refreshed and reminded in our hearts and minds. Today lesson comes from:
John 1:35-42 KJV
The first thing one must do is decide if they want to be as Jesus told Peter He would be and that is a stone. Jesus being the chief corner stone.
1 Peter 2:6 KJV
Jesus was from the beginning, He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. God’s Word created the heavens and the earth, The word is the foundation in which Christians need to build on, and not the emotional roller coaster of the world. John 1:10-15 KJV
The Word of God is solid, because it is the cornerstone. The foundation begins first with a belief in God. Though Jesus is the Word of God the foundation in which the first cornerstone is laid upon is God . The cornerstone being Christ. The Spirit of God is the builder of the blocks that are to come. He begins the work on each believer has they first believe till the day of their death preparing them to be a solid block for Jesus. All blocks made and created in the pattern after Christ. Peter would be a stone. Ephesians 2:19-22 KJV
There are many stones and each stone is often following in the pattern of other stones, but it is time we realize that other stones might have cracks and crevices that we do not need and that why we pattern after Christ. Our teachers and our leaders come with human frailties, however we learn from them of who Christ is with confirmation in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Yet our faith must be in the chief cornerstone and the foundation in which we stand upon and the builder who is the Spirit of God. The decisions is yours to make, do you believe in God and His Word, the Son of God. If so allow the Holy Spirit to guide and to build you up in faith in God the Father and in His Son. Remembering our leaders are human and though they to might be built on the principals of Christ they do have human frailties for they are not the Christ the Son of the living God. |
