One of the most common plagues of our times is propaganda in our news and in our world. Propaganda the spreading of untruth or gossip. This week twitter spread one of the latest lies concerning assassination attempt on the President. Fox news passed propaganda concerning the government not allowing Southern Baptist Material because it was not good material for our soldiers to read and thus our soldiers could not access any Southern Baptist website. Actually it was a glitch in the system a programming problem that occurs and will continue to occur until Baptist remove the problem probably. However it had nothing to do with teaching. With war comes fear, and with fear comes rumors some true, some half true. By the time all the errors get iron out most people either do not care, or only remember the original lie to only be brought up years later when another issue occurs. Then people wonder which was the lie, the first or the second information given concerning the ironing out of the problem. There is a reason people believe the lies more then the truth and only by the Holy Spirit can we acknowledge what truth is. Today’s lesson deals with lies. What is true and what is false and how are things discerned. We all know people that if you said the sky was purple and they would still declare it blue despite photographs or visibility of seeing a purple sky. Why because they are accustom to seeing a blue sky and not a purple sky. For it to change something had to cause it. Their minds often believing the deception over the truth. Unless one examines the proof, nothing changed and some even seeing the proof still claims it is impossible. On the contrary it be like saying if a tree is in the woods and it falls does it still makes a sound if no one is around. The truth is if you are close by you would still hear it fall, and go and see what fell. Only if you knew that tree was once standing would you know it fell. Only someone never being in a woods would come up with idea of this nature of not hearing a tree fall. When people get saved they change, it not always instantly, it not noticeable to the naked eye. Yet it is a change. One receives the truth of God and His Son and desires to do good and is able by the Holy Spirit. Until one takes hold to believe the truth, the lie remains in the heart, unchanged. The inability to follow the will of God for one life has not changed. One might be able to be a good person but their heart is not for God. It is rebellious spirit against God and the desire to follow Jesus is in opposition to the world. Sexual immorality runs ramped, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, lies, trickery, deception, and more wrestle against human moral codes and God’s will. Anyone can be a good person, but not until salvation does discernment of the ways of God come. For God’s Spirit only works on convicting the hearts of sinners until the day of salvation. Yet even sinful people are subjection to the will of God. Let us read today’s passage. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17 KJV (1) Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, (2) That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. (3) Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; (4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (5) Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? (6) And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. (7) For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. (8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: (9) Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, (10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. (11) And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: (12) That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (13) But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: (14) Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (15) Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. (16) Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, (17) Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. The antichrist will come he is a seducing spirit. A spirit that will speak lies. Causing people to fall away. Yet when people begin to believe the lie over truth, we have to remember that something else is occurring. Let me give example: if a teen is told it is okay to cuss at age sixteen, and though he never cussed before, by someone he respects. Nine times of out of ten he will think cussing is okay and will do it himself, if the adult cusses too. Not having any regards of the effects of cussing may have on his reputation. It like the first sip of alcohol, or first misuse of drugs. It is the temptation of sin that begins with a thought planted by the enemy. Sin harkens at the soul of all believers and non believers alike. Yet to believe truth of God concerning the temptation is half the battle the other is resisting temptation. The antichrist is like a drug lord that exalts himself over his victims, alive or dead. Showing power and might that he can control and induce power. Yet even these leaders have a day they fall. Yet the antichrist is more deceptive then any drug lord. He imitates Christianity, he does miracles and calls it miracles, he more like a politician who when finally getting the seat in office despite the office uses his power for deception, for trickery and for any means to cause another to bow to him. It is the ability to prophesy because of knowledge appearing as if it is foretelling event. It like one knowing information prior to an event. All governments are like a false prophet, yet no doubt they use their information they receive to their advantage especially in office. Antichrist is a type of big brother, acting as a friend and protector only to deceive the people who souls are in jeopardy. For example those that do not believe in God’s salvation plan through Christ Jesus is believing a lie. Not necessarily. Many people of many faiths come to Jesus through their prior faith. Moral code and just given originally by the ten commandments. These people are followers of the old way and have a heart for God but their heart is harden to the truth of the Messiah, because God harden them for a purpose. Yet those not receiving even the basic truth that God exist, receive not any truth but maybe moral code or since of ethics. Yet there are people that reject all of these things. Those people hearts are harden. God has harden their hearts because they refuse the truth of Him and the truth of the law of God. A person who can not see the basic laws of God as truth is harden to the ways of God. If one can not see the value of not committing adultery, not to kill, to obey your parents, one can not value God’s ways. In truth the beginning of valuing God’s ways begins will valuing the common law of loving others as yourself. Seeing the value of others and yourself. The antichrist will tear all these things apart in one perspective if he can. He demoralize the human race, has no compassion for people that are different from them. It like those that believe in ethnic cleansing. That certain people did not have a right to life, because of their heritage. This is hatred, and God is love. Yet God also passes judgment on people, but that is power that only belongs to God. God hardens people hearts only after they reject Him repeatedly and refuse to obey Him. He gives them a chance. We have to understand God sees the core of man’s heart we can not. What does God way bring to a life that chooses at the least to follow God’s rules? It brings about peace with one’ s neighbor, and it brings a value to self worth. To believe in God can bring about strife with your neighbor who follows moral codes and yet think you are crazy for believing in God. It brings about persecution. People judging because the view your salvation as some how you consider yourself better then them. In truth you saved only by belief in Jesus. Before you were as lost as your unsaved neighbor. The truth is that you find your works not worthy to be even placed before the Lord, yet God does see our good works and does value them, they are not enough to save us. That why God sent His Son to redeem us, He was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. God’ s provision for our sins. Our works we do in ourselves are done by our own willingness to do them or not do them. God sees the heart of our actions. One might say if there is a God he be pleased I picked those green beans for my parents in the garden. Yet that is the wrong attitude because God desire man to have heart toward Him. David had a heart of belief before God, according to the scripture. Despite his sin, God still loved Him. He had given his Holy Spirit to him, so he could reign while on the throne. Despite his sin God did not remove his spirit as He did Saul. Saul was about habit and tradition and not the matters of his heart. He disobeyed God, by not waiting to do a sacrifice. God judgment being justified by the matter of the heart of these two men. One truly seeking God and one following one traditions, and what he thought God might want instead of seeking God for what He truly wanted. Obedience to God is important to a believer, but it does not make a believer. Anyone can do the outward show of a believer, God desire the heart of faith. The heart of faith is believing there is first a God and then second God has a salvation plan for mankind through His Son Jesus. God harden the Jews heart in order for the gentiles to be saved. Gentiles hearts were once harden to God. Now salvation came to the gentiles to all that would receive. Harden hearts can be open, yet if they reject God will repeatedly God makes it impossible for them to repent. To those that chose to believe the truth and to obey the truth God gives a comforter His Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that was in King David, and even Moses. That same Spirit who teaches and guides all believers in Christ Jesus. He being the hope forever and ever. Our job as believers is to embrace the truth and denounce the lies of this world. Not to allow the lies to stand. He gives us the Holy Spirit so that we are able to do the work of God for the glory of God the Father and His Son. Without His Spirit it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6 KJV (6) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. |
